When did you become a Saints fan

It was '06 for me. I'm sure I'll get ragged as a bandwagoner for saying that but allow me to explain. I didn't really follow sports when I was real young. I had been to a few Astros games in 2003/2004 and started to follow them in 2004. The Astros in the playoffs really got me into baseball and I followed hardcore starting in 2005. As far as football, I would watch a few LSU games here and there but not much NFL at all. I started watching Saints games when I could catch them in 2006 and really enjoyed it and I was hooked so I continued to follow. Now I consider myself a diehard Saints/football fan and I'll watch any game thats on. So yeah...I did miss out on all the bad seasons but I didn't jump on when they went to the superbowl

1981.
I was 13 (and just became a football fan a year before due to some Georgia freshman phenom RB named Herchel Walker), and Bum Phillips was spotlighted on an SI commercial.
They showed Bum with a halo and asked "Can a Bum lift the lowly Saints?" I missed the 1-15 season and all the other sorry ones before thankfully.
Though I do regret not getting to see Archie Manning's NFC MVP year in '78 with RB's Chuck Muncie & Tony Galbreath and pass catchers like Wes Chandler, Ike Harris, and Henry Childs.

I was going to games while in the womb. First game out the wound was when I was 6 months old. My parents had to have been crazy but I was well equipped with the Baylen-earphones. I think I have pics somewhere. I was cute.

I was a Saints fan since I was born. My dad says my first words were "Damnit Bobby"...(this would've been around 1988)

Bum Phillips days...don't remember the exact year, but I was 7 or 8. My parents were kind of fans but not die hard or anything so we would watch the games together. I got way more into it than they did.
First game I ever attended was against the Redskins when Rypien was the QB...guess that was 90-91. I was at the Eagles playoff game and the Browns game where Tim Couch threw the hail mary that Sammy Knight batted into the air for a Browns TD.

I was a big fan when I was a little kid, I mean real little. I had a saints helmet, pajamas, etc. In elementary school, right during some of their worst years, it got to be really really uncool to wear anything saints related. Nevertheless, I had a new pair of saints shoes. Some a-hole teased me about it and even tried to spit on them (I think he missed but I can't remember).
Since, I always casually followed them but never wore any saints gear until after high school. I would watch every sunday though or listen with my dad on the radio if the game was blacked out, which was often. It wasn't until the last 4 years it's gotten fashionable to be a saints fan again.
I still think how funny it is the transformation from those years to now. I even see people every now in then here in NY wearing saints shirts/hats/jerseys.

I was driving through a pretty ghetto part of Santa Ana, California not too long ago and saw some Mexican gang member hanging out on a corner sporting a black Brees jersey. It's safe to say the Saints have finally arrived to bandwagon status.

1967. I was 12. I was listening on the radio in my bedroom in Gentilly when John Gilliam ran back the first kickoff in Saints history for a 94 yard touchdown. I've been hooked ever since.
