Why?

don't water down the product

Football is a zero sum game, only one team can win the SEC title.

but more than 1 team can win BCS bowls and represent the SEC i non-conference games

also if playoffs come, i want the #2 SEC team to get in over other conference champs almost every year

but aiming at the "elite" has a cost that people aren't considering and they are ignorng what worked in the past.

then stand pat until teams come to the SEC and the cost is lowered

I get your point, but this may be more likely if the conference were a little more watered down. Less chance of your #1 and #2 losing.

vt academics aren't uva, but they are better than a number of sec schools. I want them in the SEC though. I despise that team and their fanbase. They are basically Auburn.

Virginia Tech has the most delusional fanbase I have ever seen. You'd swear they win a national championship every year when in fact they have never won a single championship IN ANYTHING

thank you. I grew up in Virginia and a ton of my friends were either fans of that shitty program or ended up going there. Plus I was at Lane for the 26-8 loss. The 48-7 curb stomping we put on that team was one of my favorite moments ever. I stayed until the clock hit 0:00. It would be great to have them join the SEC. Their fans travel very well and they need a dose of humility.

slo you are really being an idiot in this thread, why are you arguing about the contract when you dont have any idea what the contract with ESPN would be? Dont you think ESPN and CBS are heavily involved in talks with Slive?

But who east of the Mississippi wouldnt be interested in a night VT vs Tenn game? VT vs UGA?

who wouldn't like to see TAMU vs LSU? or TAMU vs Arky? what waters the SEC down is Vandy and Moo State. adding two football schools with enormous alumni bases and academic prestige wouldnt water anything down

you know what is not interesting? Texas playing 3 Pac 16 road games at 9pm local time

Yall are both right on. I've had to live in Va for the past 12 years and most of my friends go to VT. Its incredible. They think they have the best football program in the country and that everyone is afraid to go into Lane Stadium because of course its the most hostile environment in the country (especially when they jingle their keys ). I got into a debate with a friend their this morning. He thinks theyre just gonna stroll into the SEC and start dominating. He thinks that VA has the best recruits in the country and pointed out cases of Percy Harvin and other players that went to the SEC. What they dont realize is that if they want to compete with other SEC schools, they need a serious upgrade in facilities. We'll see what happens but I would love to see them come into the conference and get their asses handed to them.

Nobody wants to play for that jail in the fall. They hype up the 757 boys but thats all they really have to draw from. VA high school ball is no where close to the deep south. DELUSIONAL Hokies.

He thinks that because they "curb stomped" a 7-5 Tennessee team and "hung with bama for most of the game" they can dominate. I dont think you get it. These people are delusional. They honestly thought that they got hosed when we went to the ncg in 07 instead of them. They had already forgotten about the 48-7 beatdown 3 months after it happenned

YES! This was one of the most ridiculous things they've ever done. Could not believe it..oh wait I could. You can count on one Saturday night in the month of October every year to shut those fans up and end any national title hopes though.

TAMU in the SEC is GREAT for LSU, the weaker team added to the west, exposes LSU in person to the Texas recruiting hot beds and six games at VTU would make life harder for the SEC East

LSU vs TAMU in the Jerry Dome or Reliant Stadium would be huge for LSU

i think you give far too much credit to the quality of football that VT plays

i doubt they let this happen

it's a great idea for a home and home

why would TAMU or LSU lose a home game for this?

let me also add that VT isn't in the top 20 most profitable programs and TAMU is 18

I would love for Florida/UGA/UT to have to play at VTU every other year no matter what you think of their quality

not saying that they would but if they did jerry world seats 80k for football and it would do us both good to play in Dallas

reliant stadium seats 72k for football and they can do like Tulane does and make the game a stand alone ticket and price it separate (for a lot more money) from the Ole Miss/Moo State/etc tickets

Hell for that matter they could probably negotiate with LSU and make the game an annual thing in reliant, jack up the prices and create the sabine river shootout or some shite
