Let's see, LSU sucked when Peyton was graduating high school, Curley Hallman was the head coach, and many of you idiots would have chosen LSU over Tennessee? What a career breaker that was for Peyton.

Eli went to Ole Miss to play where his dad is the school's greatest player. He didn't come to LSU, yet LSU won the national title while Eli wasn't there. So why is anyone angry about that? By the way, that move didn't hurt Eli's career either.

Some of you need to get over your Manning hate. Ya'll act as if Archie blew up the levees.

Sure seems to be the case. SOCAL and others are just off their nut in some of their comments.

1. In my opinion, a parent's first love and obligation is for and to their kid. Archie and Olivia have been good parents as far as I, and I'm pretty sure anyone else on this board, can tell. If Archie didn't pull for his son's team in the Super Bowl I think that would be just plain fricking weird.

2. Archie and Olivia cerainly run in a different circle than my wife and I do, but when we've for whatever reason run into them and met them (not a lot, but a few times) they've been polite and gracious. Not at all condescening.

3. Archie was traded by the Saints as I recalled and finished in Houston. As far as pure football is concerned, he gave a hell of a lot more to the Saints than the Saints gave to him, in my opinion. He at least gave as much as could be expected.

4. The argument that somehow the Mannings had an obligation to influence their kids to attend an in state school is so fricked up and ridiculous that it doesn't even deserve further comment. That's just plain silly.

5. As far as what charities the Mannings have supported, I don't really keep up with the issue. I've got better things to do. Like type on a dumbass message board.

Why didn't these parents influence their kids to stay in state?

but Brees is officially the face of this franchise forever.
Yes. He has been for a while and has cemented that position with the season cumulating in a Superbowl berth.

I grew up in the 70's and 80's and never considered Archie the face of the franchise back then. Granted I was too young to watch Archie play but all I knew about him was that he pimped aluminum siding during commercials of Sunday afternoon movies on the tube.

How do you know the Mannings HAVEN'T given to charities. Prove your false accusation. Many people who donate do it quietly & privately & anonomously. STFU you uninformed, jealous inbred child.

The Mannings have always and will always continue to give back to New Orleans. Peyton, Archie and Eli did more than their fair shair to support the Katrina relief as it was posted in an earlier post and below is what Peyton Manning's Peyback Foundation gave back to LA last year..... Archie....still dividing the saints fanbase like Moses parting the red sea. Bobby Hebert is much less divisive. The only ones that hate him are frumpy blue bloods.

The Mannings have earned everything through sheer talent. They don't owe anyone anything. Archie parlayed his fame into a money-making machine, and good for him. He's played that Lil' Abner from Dogpatch routine all the way to the bank.

Sir, your evidence for Peyton was the proof I was looking for. That being said the post of Archie's contributions were very generic. I respect the family, their talents and at no time did I say they should have swayed their kids to go to an in state school. Bottom line is that Brees has done more in four years then any other new Orleans athlete. Like I stated before, Brees is bigger then football in New Orleans. Any one who disputes this is in denial.

I have no personal problems with Archie, and anyone who thinks anything about him pulling for Peyton's team in the SB is retarded.

However, I will say, Archie achieved a certain level of dishonorability in my opinion with the whole Eli draft fiasco, for which I now and probably always will hold a certain lack of respect for him. The whole special entitlement mentality with which they approached that situation was just seriously f-ed up in my mind.
