Tiger Woods never coming to New Orleans

What is the reason this dude has never come to the PGA event in New Orleans? I heard something that his dad never got along with the mayor? Whats the deal?

the story i hear is that various politicos and/or tourney organizers tried to shake him down for bogus charity donations. That, combined with the fact that it's not a highly prestigious tourney means he won't be back any time soon.

Tiger was in NOLA several years ago for a clinic at city park as part of his Tiger Woods Foundation. There were reports about politicians pissing him off during that trip with regards to the agreed upon donations to his foundation, or something to that effect. In any event, Tiger will never be in New Orleans as long as the PGA Tour schedule is what it is now.

There's several smaller events he doesn't go to anymore. It's the size of the tournament...$$$ and all.
He doesn't go to the Texas Open in San Antonio, but the messicans don't bitch about it. It's just not a marquee event.

he doesnt go to the FBR in Scottsdale either.. for a couple of reasons.. he doesnt like the 'atmosphere', and he gets a bajillion dollars to go to Dubai that week..

The Freeport McDermott whatever the frick they call it now tourney is a second tier PGA event. That's why.

I heard he had some issues with the organizers way back... But either way
He plays the same 12 or so tourneys every year. He has it down to a science. Seems like he is a man of habit and I cant blame him.

If it was really up to Tiger he would only play Majors!
His whole plan is based around skipping certain events to rest up for the ones that count. Unfortunately, New Orleans tour date will always be the worst because it is an event that will never be on the big players list of must plays. Eventually, New Orleans will be lucky to have a PGA tour event of any kind!

It's a bottom tier PGA tournament, face it. Tiger isn't the only major name that stays home.
Timing has alot to do with it, move the Zurich to the week before the Masters and it'd mean more.
