“Russia has announced plans to shut the Druzhba pipeline within nine days, cutting the Continent off from Kazakh oil as it faces supply disruption caused by the Iran war.
The planned closure poses a particular threat to Germany, where the Druzhba pipeline supplies 17pc of the crude oil processed by PCK refinery, which provides 90pc of the fuel used by Berlin’s cars.”

Agreeable suicide.

The german announcement of their pipe dream army that will never come to fruition making a whole lot of sense now

If only someone could have warned them that this would happen. There is no way the Germans would have made such a short sided blunder if they would have been given forewarning of this.

I don't think 1-2% qualifies as dependence. Looks like with this pipeline down the 1-2% will go to 0% this year. No big deal. Just get more oil from the US
quote:
EU crude oil imports from Russia have plummeted from 27% in 2021 to roughly 1%-2% by late 2025 following seaborne bans and sanctions. Most EU imports now come from the US and Norway. While direct maritime imports are nearly entirely halted, limited amounts still enter through the southern Druzhba pipeline

How much does Russia really lose? It's Kazakh oil. They probably get a small cut for having the pipeline go through their territory, but I could see where it would be worth it to Putin to shut down oil to Germany.

It’s still amazing to me that a board that is supposedly pro-America seems to favor Russia over Western Europe.
Is it historical geopolitical ignorance or just more of the childish opposition to anything viewed as “establishment”?
