It was personal for Marcellus and having four guys waiting around in a little apartment is a little bit conspicuous. The better question is why did Marcellus leave his MAC-10 on the counter when he went for coffee?

Marcellus went with Vincent because Jules had just retired. This was after the events at the diner. He left his Mac 10 on the counter because he couldn't bring it to the donut shop.

I always assumed that was Vincent's gun, and he left it on the counter when he went to take a shite.
