Under the proposed rule, if the typical graduate of an undergraduate program does not earn as much as a high school graduate, the program will no longer be eligible for federal student loans. Graduate programs must similarly lead to earnings above those of an average bachelor’s degree holder. Programs that routinely fail to provide students with a reliable return on investment would lose access to federal student loans, and in certain cases, Pell Grants.

Hope my underwater basketweaving major will be preserved!

Gal I used to date in college had 200K in loans for a liberal arts degree where she went to work for $50K/year after school She is still in the same role. Great ROI!

It needs to happen... But this will not make it through and will die.. While smart, it is not popular with moms. Must have Lesbian Dance Theory!

When I was an employer, and was looking to hire, it never ceased to amaze me the sheer majority of young women who were in college and were majoring in Criminal Justice. I blame all the "murder porn" tv shows and podcasts for that phenomenon.

There is an elevendy-billion percent chance Democrats will do everything in their power to block this. I’d even go double or nothing they’ll at least suggest impeachment just because Trump had the gall to bring it up.

Omg! But I just started college. I'm a fresh person at Harvard University majoring in prehistoric art of Trans indigenous native American people.

It is a very tough major and most graduates with this major take 6 years to graduate.

I am just finishing up year one. How am I going to afford the 100k tuition a year and the additional 80k a year in living expenses?

In six years time when I graduate I will owe over 1 million dollars but it will be worth it.

And my income potential would be huge. I could work at any coffee shop in the country! If he does this i will stay a go fund me right here on the poliboard to find this vital educational experience.

Who wants to invest in my educational future?

VOR?
Cubbies?

Also they need to cap private school loans at the highest public school tuition for that state. There is no reason for someone to go $500k in debt due to private school tuition.

Before I invest in this worthwhile request, I need to know the following:

Age
Gender Identity
Pronouns (anything CIS-gender is immediate disqualification)
BIPOC? (No is immediate disqualification)
Where you fall on the spectrum.
Number of piercings.
Hair color.
Diagnosis on DSM-V.
Safe-space requirements.
Number of subreddits you mod.
Number of Discord channels you mod.

The purpose changed when the education system itself changed. A liberal education used to mean something. It's absolutely worthless now and nothing but indoctrination to one very specific way of thinking.

Credential over education.

I look forward though to you explaining why almost every major university in this country's faculty all think the exact same way politically. By over 90%.

I worked in higher ed for over a decade. If they kill the funding this will an end to a ton of meaningless jobs. I talked about it while employed and people thought I was nuts. To much money involved and students love them some lame degrees.

This seems like a very common sense good policy. I'm sure democrats will fight it with all their might because they need those people in college to become indoctrinated as long as possible

The shame of it is that the education establishment cons these entering freshmen into “following their hearts” and designing their own curriculum. Those people should be held liable via class action suit. If only that was possible!

I met, had a discussion with, and ultimately got screamed at by a barista, who was sitting at the bar next to me at one of my favorite restaurants in Alameda. She had two sociology degrees from UC-Berkley, but blamed her brother, her parents, George Bush, Republicans and the evils of capitalism for her being only able to find a job as a barista, nevermind the four abortions she'd had.

With that in-mind, whether the degree is worthless or not, how do colleges overcome the irrational laziness and general mental weaknesses of students once they've left the college with a degree? Are we also going to require mental health analysis on students before they can attend college and are we going to require the college continue each year, or every semester, to evaluate the craziness level of students?

I hope so.
