Anyone else feel like next years LSU starting pitching will be legit?

Evans and Schmidt with one season of SEC experience under their belt, go after one high end transfer and things could be scary.

Silver lining of struggles this year are possibly getting Evans and Curiel back next year. 2 legit weekend starters allow you to get bullpen in order for Omaha runs as we saw last year.

Paz will be good too. He is starting to show his talent; it just takes time coming off the injury.

Curiel is a steady eligible sophomore. No way he’s coming back

I wouldn't say "no way". Obviously he's an elite prospect and one of the main reasons he withdrew from the draft out of high school was to show he could add some power to his game.
I don't think he has done that yet and he would still have leverage next season if he chose to come back. I honestly don't expect it, but also don't think it's a foregone conclusion.

I think next years pitching will be vastly improved next year

I believe most thought the same about this years staff.

Redundancy could end up being redundant, too, as well.

We went into the year with our Friday guy adjusting to a full time starting role, our Saturday guy adjusting to a better conference, and our Sunday guy getting his first shot at being in a weekend rotation.
Everyone (that was paying attention) knew that there were questions with the starters.

Next year will feel different than next year.

No one will be worth a damn unless the defense improves. Catchers have to quit making it so hard on our pitchers, but what transfer is going to want to come in and compete with Serna and Arrambide? Those 2 guys just have to get better.
Milam will likely be gone and there's no heir-apparent on the current roster. We will need to hit big on a transfer SS and find alternatives at 2nd and 3rd. Oh and the whole OF will be gone too

But it's not a pipe dream to get Milam back or Jake Brown back. I just don't know enough about their draft prospective/situation. I mean Dylan Crews is struggling to get on/stay on a big league roster. MLB is tough man.

If you don't know enough about their draft prospects, how can you possibly make a definitive statement that it's not a pipedream to get them back?

I feel good about our starting pitching. My biggest concern about next year would be the depth. Many thought that this year the strength of our team would be the depth of the pitching staff.

I still havent been very convinced that Evans is anything better than a Sunday type starter in the SEC to this point. He may just do much better back in the bullpen as long relief where he mostly dominated last season and velocity got significantly higher. He has gotten jumped on pretty hard early in 3 of his first 5 SEC starts this season where they seem to score a bundle of runs in the first 2 innings and just puts us immediately behind.
I hope that changes and he dominates the last half of the season for us, but again just not very convinced starting is even the best role for him. It's a little odd to have an "ace" who pretty much guaranteed will give up 3 ER in his start every time out (except once in the SEC this season thus far). It would be 1 thing if it was 3 ER over 7-8 IP, but its always like 3-4 in 5-6 IP (or 6 in 3 IP against Vandy), again with the 1 outlier being the OU start where he just utterly dominated.
On top of that, I still find it odd not a single freshman has seemingly been able to step up and give us quality SEC innings at all this season halfway through; Paz is closest with 2 1 inning appearances without giving up a run, but thats about it. Doesnt seem like these guys are finding their groove or developing so far this season and they were some really talented guys overall.
If I'm Jay, I'm probably find 2 starters in the portal that are pretty dang good, flat out.

Were both Anderson and Eyanson projected to be high draft picks before the start of last season?
Is this year’s staff hurt by both of them blowing up last year, and leaving us without a true ace this season?

Neither of them were expected to be here this year.

Anderson was always a if he improved "some" not a bunch could come back for junior year to improve more and grab a 1st round pick, but was too good to obviously not go last year
Eyanson was always a 1 and done. Sure he improved his stock some with the way he pitched but he would have zero leverage coming back for a senior year and was a starter all along. Guys like that dont stay for senior seasons here if you have any decent MLB stock because you have to maximize that signing bonus when you can. Even if he was a 5th-7th rounder instead of 3rd rounder you generally speaking take that bonus money instead of coming back and signing for next to nothing the following year with no leverage.
