According to PFT. This might lead to more players using it.

These things are so stupid and do nothing to prevent your brain banging around in your skull.

I was expecting this to be about the baseball cap for the Cleveland “Don’t call us Indians anymore”.

Nintendo should do a Toad skin to promote the Mario movie

Seems counterintuitive for the guys in the video to keep banging their heads with their hands.

It certainly reduces the external force imparted on the skull, thus reducing the force of the brain slamming into the skull in the equal and opposite direction.
To what degree it reduces it is up for debate.

While I dislike them, I actually dont hate them as much if the graphics are directly on the cap
It was the brassiere like cover (solely for the leauxgeauxs) that made it look especially horrific

They make more sense for linemen than WRs
The lower impact repeated thuds as opposed to the higher impact jarring hits

This post is America in a nutshell. People that have no clue what they are talking about calling the people that have done the studies on things stupid.

Yeah, i don't think we'll get to the point where many players use them any time soon.

This is probably a robust study done by Univ of Wisconsin researchers on 2600 high school players with about half wearing the caps.
They didn't find any difference in concussion rates between those who wore them and those who didn't. There have been lab tests that showed they might help a little when hit from certain directions but one I read found that it was because the caps slipped on contact, not because the extra cushioning did anything.
The UW study mentioned extra jaw padding as maybe being beneficial but the bottom line is that really the only way to guarantee brain health is to limit head jarring contact as much as possible.
