Portal opens in two days and lsu has no recruiting coordinator and the 2nd staff spot hasn’t been filled either. Lovely

Definitely burned some bridges with this move especially if he didn’t disclose any of this during the interview process with LSU.

This stuff happens sometimes. He’s a sought after assistant so if you have a chance to hire him you do it even if there’s a possibility of him getting a HC job. Cant fault him for being ambitious and it wasn’t a guarantee he’d get this job when he accepted LSU’s offer.
You see it more often in football where an assistant coach accepts a job in December then gets an nfl offer in January-February.
Not ideal but if they had a notion he might get a HC opportunity surely they have a contingency plan

Whole wbb world going weird today. UGA just parted ways with their coach, who came from UCF, after they made the tourney but a lot of the team started transferring. UVA firing their coach after their best finish in 25 years.

I would sure think he didn’t disclose anything during the interview since he was openly speculated on about UCF and other HC jobs. No doubt Mulkey asked him directly about his interest in head coaching jobs. She’s no dummy.
The motherfricker obviously lied to her face and said “Oh no, I’m committed to LSU!” all the while using the assistant coach position at LSU as a back up instead of being honest and telling Mulkey “I won’t commit until I hear from UCF.” He was afraid Mulkey would make an immediate hire of someone else, he’d not get UCF, then be left with nothing.

Meh. He’s been an assistant and is taking a head coaching job in his home state.
He resigned from Tennessee on the 27th to accept the LSU job.
Messer was fired on the 30th.

Nah he resigned from UT. Seems like he took the LSU job to lock down a good job in case he didn't get the UCF job. Ended up getting the UCF job and dipped.
