Will Wades Style & Why We Should Not Care About Losing Recruits Right Now

I keep seeing all these transfers leaving or changing their minds about LSU but that’s not an issue. In fact, it makes me even more excited to see what happens after April 9th when the Tranfer Portal opens
That said, if you were wondering what types he recruits and what not, keep reading.
Shot Creating Guards
- Aggressive Guards that can score in any system on any team.
- Pick and Roll Guards
Ex: Tremont Waters, Cam Thomas, Jalen Crutcher
Long Athletic Wings
- Length and Athleticism Over Pure Skill
- Long Wings (6’6” to 6’9”)
- Tools Come First, Scoring is a Bonus
Ex: Darius Days, Tari Eason, Vince Williams Jr
Experienced Transfers (Ready-Made)
- Ready-to-Play Older Guys Who Can Produce Quickly
Ex: Xavier Pinson, Kendal Coleman
Rim Running Shot Blockers
- Bigs that Protect the Rim and Finish Lobs
- Not Post-Heavy
Ex: Naz Reid, Trendon Watford, Mo Alie-Cox
Offense
Style: Spacing + Ball Screens + Let Best Scorers Create
- Pick-and-Roll Heavy: Offense runs through ball screens and guard decisions
- Drive & Kick: Attack the Paint — Collapse the Defense — Kick Out for 3
- Isolation Freedom: Allows Top Players to Create 1-on-1’s, Especially Late in Games
- Opportunistic Transition: Push When Available, Not Reckless
Defense
- Man-to-Man Base: Straight Man Defense with Focus on Contests
- Switching with Length: Uses Athletic Wings to Switch and Disrupt
- Rim Protection: Bigs Clean Up Mistakes and Protect the Paint

I thought this was about his love handles and oversized suits

What recruits has LSU lost so far

You say scoring is a bonus for wings, then list Darius Dayes and Tari Eason, two of our best scorers, as examples.

It’s always about love handles and oversized suits!

Kendal Coleman was a McMahon player and he wasn’t that good

I don’t think anyone is melting over losing players off the Mclast place team in the league.

Not a very brainy move, young man.

I don’t keep up with bball too much but Mo Alie-Cox? The colts TE?
ETA I had no idea he was signed in the NFL without ever playing a down of college ball. That’s insane. Wade does like some athletes I guess lol

Thanks for the post tadelatt.
I started a topic on the loss of transfers. There are a few I would like to hang on to. I'd like to see Thomas and Reed stay. But I guess I'm not too worried. My expectations for 2027 is lower mid pack SEC.
I was always wanting a little less isolation and less perimeter shooting with CWW's first time at LSU. Seems I remember a lot of people complaining of that. But I think big center are becoming necessary. In NCAA there is becoming less focus on 3's now and shifting to paint points.
I'm looking fwd to who he can bring in and fwd to improving LSU basketball.

Are there any legit posters worried about losing anybody? Of course your Pirate King's of the board will bitch and moan about any and everything they can find, but those aren't thread worthy credible posters.
Wade is phenomenal at bringing in people who fit what he wants to do. Even if they don't come in highly touted, or with eye popping numbers, he knows how to find what he is looking for.

What do you want then? You most likely aren't going to get what you are looking for. But I don't know exactly why you would want anything different.
I was at a McNeese game when Wade was there and in that gym you can walk pretty close to the bench. As I was passing at one point I heard him say, "drive the fricking ball. If they stop it kick it out and drive the fricking ball again." Thats what you will get from Wade. It's not street ball, like some idiots will try to claim. I'm not sure what kind of offense people expect.

Hold That Tiger 10, I know what we get with CWW and I'm fine with it. Just reflecting on my thinking back then and the shift in NCAA happening now. I think bigs are becoming more important and less reliance on perimeter shooting.
Is CWW going to adjust his style with these trends towards bigs? I'm looking fwd to next season, just to see some improvement.

Think we’ll make a play for the 7’9” guy from FL.

He was just listing guys with traits that Wade goes after. And Dayes especially, had to develop overtime to be a scorer. I remember being so frustrated with him early over how much of a physical freak he was, but often couldn’t finish for points.

I get the sentimental aspect of wanting to see Reed stay. He's been loyal to LSU for 4 years. But contrary to popular belief, he's wasn't an All SEC type player, or even LSU's "best player" on some really bad teams BEFORE he was injured. Now he's an average player who has missed 85% of the last two seasons with two significant injuries.
If he wants to stay and finish his time at LSU with no real guarantees of playing time, great! He still has good size and experience. But I don't know if he's "must keep" type player for Wade

Yes, Reed had a few good games before the injuries, but he was not consistent and had games where he was a non-factor.
I also wonder why a seemingly talented player like Robert Miller hasn’t progressed much in his 2 seasons here.
