Italy is missing the World Cup for the third time in a row.

They haven't made the tournament since 2014, and in that tournament they went home in the group stage.

It’s like the football gods realized how badly they fricked up letting them win in 2006 after the scandal with a team so mid and still need to set things right

That’s not really unheard of. Spain was grouped in 2014 and Germany in 2018 (and 2022 lol).
