Do you feel embarrassed and ashamed for not receiving communion?

Not at all. Why should I be embarrassed for not subscribing to specific set of beliefs? If that makes me different, wouldn't that also mean that those who receive communion are different than me? Neither side is doing it wrong. I don't care enough about what others think to worry about such things.
Be as religious as you want, folks. Just don't do it in a way that's hypocritical or harms others.
Luke 6:31 all day long, baws.

My wife is catholic, I am baptist. She can no longer get communion after we married. Felt like a punch in the gut for her

You can't receive communion if you marry outside of the Catholic church?

So she was excommunicated and damned to hell and it merely feels like a gut punch?

If you love your wife you should immediately enroll in RCIA classes so you can get confirmed next Easter Vigil and have her avoid eternal damnation.

As a catholic that isn't how it works. She still can.

LOL. Religion is so screwed up sometimes.

Same here but we got married in the church and both boys have been raised Catholic. Wasn’t an issue for her.
I’m probably going to do RCIA this upcoming year.

No.
Possible spinoff thread: drinking the wine at communion after a hundred strangers is gross.
Dip your host and move on or just pass altogether.

I went to church the Sunday before last for a confirmation. I didn't receive communion. I haven't gone in I really don't know how long its been. Traditionally I am supposed to go to confession first before I take it again, but I have my own views when it comes to religion. WTF would I be ashamed?

No. But reconciliation is Tuesday evening and I’ll start again.

You’ve been given some bad advice. I was Baptist, married a Catholic, and she took communion
There years later, I converted. Greatest single decision I ever made for myself. Been part of the mother church for 32 years. No regrets.

The only way this would hold true is if you weren’t married in the Catholic Church, and even then you can still get your marriage blessed. You left out a very important part.
