If tweet fails to load, click here. The post features a video of long queues at a Thai gas station where people fill jerry cans with fuel, amid a nationwide panic triggered by a 22% price hike after government subsidy cuts on March 26, 2026.
@StealthQE4, a macro-focused investor, predicts these fuel scarcity scenes will spread globally within weeks, likely alluding to escalating energy market tensions and subsidy strains in other nations.
Thailand's crisis stems from surging demand outpacing supply, with 10-20% of stations temporarily dry and authorities imposing price controls to prevent hoarding and ease living costs.

So… the Thai government stopped discounting gas and it returned to the market price?
People are rushing to get it at the cheaper price while they can.
Not sure how this is a global problem when a government was manipulating its own market with subsidies.

Sounds like the exact opposite. Market price surged, so the government put price controls in place. And people are rushing to get it before the shortage exacerbates and there’s none left to get.

Aren't US oil prices are sorta subsidized or otherwise affected by our position in the global financial market (petrodollar, etc)? Most places in the world, including the first world, would take our bitching-level prices of today as a discount.

This seems like some that has no idea what they are talking about. Thailand government uses oil subsides to artificially keep their prices lower. Now that oil is significantly higher it is costing their government too much much money so they cut subsides.
In the US our prices here routinely fluctuate 20+%.
For instance if gas is $2.50 and goes up 22% that's $3.05. If it went down 22% that would be $1.95.
These are the new prices per gallon they are paying in Thailand (they buy it by the liter so I converted it)
High-speed diesel: $4.47 per gallon
B7 premium diesel: $6.28 per gallon
Gasohol 91 petrol: $4.69 per gallon (This is our 87 octane)
Gasohol 95: $4.73 per gallon (This is our 91 octane w/no additives)
Gasohol E20: $4.16 per gallon (20% ethanol)
Gasohol E85: $3.79 per gallon (85% ethanol)
Gasohol 95 premium: $5.98 per gallon (This is our 91 octane w/additives)
Gasoline 95: $5.72 per gallon (This is ethanol free fuel)
**Thailand uses RON for their octane rating so 91 are our 95 are our 87 regular and 91 premium.

Good grief. You provided absolutely nothing to this OP. You link a tweet and then copy/paste AI slop about the video? Damn.
