Probably the folks who did well last year. A math prodigy isn't really offseting a well run math team program, that has been well run for years. Especially one with good jr high/middle school feeder programs. But I'm sure you've noticed this best of luck to your kid or students.

Unless things have changed in the past 20 years.

Baton Rouge High, Ben Franklin, Catholic High BR (Ms. Patout = GOAT). At least these were the Top 3 every year back in my day.

1st place will be some 12 year old enrolled in Calculus from Baton Rouge High.

Mu Alpha Theta State Convention

Man, that's something I hadn't heard of or thought of in many, many years...

Went to the one in 1981; was held at the Hyatt in New Orleans. Biggest thing I remember about it was the dance/social; it was just before Mardi Gras time so it was a costume deal. I went as Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick. Our school had a version of Sheldon Cooper-- he was only about 13 and had already been taking classes at Tulane for a couple of years. I lent him a black robe costume of mine and a piece of rope for a belt, so he was a monk.

Good times.

I was in Mu Alpha Theta but didn’t attend anything or compete despite my math skills being 99.7 percentile.

Cause I’m not a nerd.

I was a nerd, but I was a nerd with better things to do.

i went a little over a decade ago, and the big ones were always Ben Franklin and Baton Rouge High. I did win a medal in geometry my freshman year but that was it.

In the mid and late seventies, believe it or not, Bonnabel High School dominated this. They went to the University of Alabama and Bear Bryant visited them and was glowing about LSU. Also went to Kent State and others. My how times have changed. Every one of the young men on the Mu Alpha Theta team from back then have been uber successeful. RIP to my big brother.
