How a school with an outstanding turf grass program has such a shite course is beyond me.

They've been talking it about for years
It wasn't making $ for the longest time
That is also where the new arena is gonna be

Damn, had some fun times out there.
It’ll be DR Horton tract houses in no time.
Hopefully the University holds out for something a little more significant.

I worked at the LSU golf course in the 90's before they closed the front 9 and redesigned the course moving it all across Nicholson. It was a great layout and kept in pretty good shape. Students could play a round for $2.50 (if they didn't just walk on)
I never liked the layout of the "new" LSU golf course and from talking to people who have played it the last couple of years they said it was usually in poor shape.
The only thing it really had going for it now was a driving range.

Guessing because the university doesn’t give two shits about it.
There’s no doubt LSU would prefer to use that land for something more than a shite course, hence, let it die and we’ll make the case for doing something else with it…something that actually drives revenue.

What golf course does make money?

I hear City Park and Webb Park are both profitable for BREC.

Webb isn't going anywhere but changes may be coming to City Park despite those homeowners that don't want change

Jay Johnson getting his brand new indoor practice facility. I kid.

a once great Contractor name Al Czervik, famously said: "I tell ya, golf courses and cemeteries are the biggest wastes of prime real estate!"

Terrible idea to build a new arena. Lsu has awful facilities for the students. Focus on that.

The original course was great. 16,17, and 18 are all notably better holes than the rest of the course.
Fun fact 7,8, and 9 were more expensive than the rest of the course combined.

I spent many an afternoon on the pitch and putt

Expand on this fact

After construction started admin realized that the course kind of sucked. Enough higher ups liked playing there so LSU “found” money to pay a designer for those three holes since they were the last to go in.
There is a noticeable difference between 7-9 and the rest of the course not counting the original holes.

They let the greens go to shite during Covid and they were never the same.
The course was never the same after Mike Johnson retired as the club pro.
