I slow down but make sure to make eye contact so they still feel the obligation to wait. Then when I get to the door I make an awkward joke.

If I see somebody I know before they see me I change directions so I don't have to talk to them.

Had a beautiful young lady hold the door open for me recently ( early 20’s) I said “ thank you “ she said “ you remind of my paw paw “ I’m 59 and I know I’m old but damn if that shite didn’t hit different lol

No but I get super annoyed when dudes on the elevator at my work try to have a “gentleman-off” and see who can be the last one off the elevator. They both say “after you” over and over. One of you has to just walk off.

Also, I’m all for being a gentleman and letting ladies off first. But sometimes dudes standing at the door/in the way will try to move around (still inside the elevator) when the doors open to let people off. I’m like dude just walk off the fricking elevator. You’re literally standing in the doorway…nobody is gonna think you’re an a-hole.

Lord knows I see some things out in NWLA but by and large even the young OG's will hold the door and give a thank you sir when I do for them.
