If I’m approaching a door and someone is coming behind me but still a reasonable amount of feet away , I speed up so I don’t have to hold the door open for them

I go the other way,
We have an a-hole at work, that I will say thank you if I'm within 15 of him, when he goes through the door just so he will stop and hold it open.
One time their was 3 people in front of me, still shouted thank you as he held the door open for all of us.
