Robins flying into windows

What's with all the darn robins flying into my windows lately? I sit in my home office and watch the same one try all morning. These aren't high speed neck-breakers, just constant low-speed love taps into my windows.

Maybe they've lost the will to live. And they're so lonesome they could cry

Breeding season. We have a certain window that has, over the years attracted Tufted Titmouse, bluebirds, mocking birds, cardinals and summer tanagers to stand and fight their reflection.

We’ve had several robins, only in spring, attack our windows. I think that during breeding season the males see their reflection and think it’s a competing male, and they attack.
One year it was so bad we had to tape newspaper over a big window for a week or so.

Had to takeout a Tufted Titmouse one year because he wouldn't quit flying into my bathroom window.

We have a window on our stairway, with a tall tree next to it. Every spring we have a new male cardinal that fights himself at daybreak. Pretty annoying when trying to drink my coffee. i usually break out my shotgun and end the fight. Next year will bring a new contender.
