I didn’t realize until the 5th inning that OU is ranked 8th in the country.

Surely you cannot be serious. They look pedestrian. And trotting Cam Johnson out there as their Friday (~Thursday) night starter?

And here we are unranked.

Our re-ascendency starts with a sweep of these imposters.

That second inning for them. Wow that was rough. Especially for a team ranked 8th.

Cam has had a solid year, probably got too amped up and emotional about the return and was wild

It was definitely a gigantic roll of the dice to think cam Johnson was their top level starter. He may have the best stuff but his history speaks for itself he runs into a wall every year where he cant throw strikes anymore. This year it started last weekend and seems to have stuck with him once again. Last year it started in his first SEC start as well, he came out walked a guy and hit a guy and got pulled immediately. They tried to pitch him mid-week and he walked 4 and hit one to get 3 outs and he was close to basically shut down the most of the rest of that season. I think the guy has a fatigue issue and his mechanics get way out of whack. He's just never had much work and when he does he falls apart.

They should just turn that freshman who shut us down for 5 innings into a starter probably and put Cam in the bullpen to try and get it figured out. I just dont think the kid is a starter ultimately. He got a very light workload at IMG when he was there and its clear after 3 years now he cant handle a starters workload and continue to throw strikes. Maybe he's just a guy who can come in for an inning or two at a time a couple times a week at best if he can maintain control in shorter bursts.

He’s allergic to pitching mound at The Box….. Looked the same as he did 2 years ago…. Can’t throw a strike

Early season baseball rankings are usually pretty dumb and extremely reactionary. They are all over the place every week.

They're a really good team. But sure, keep downplaying our competition.

They have been solid all year. Emotions got the best of them last night and they choked a little. I would expect them to bounce back. Hopefully the tiger can take the series tonight

Don't lose to Louisiana and California Junior Colleges and you'll be ranked.

are we judging 2025 LSU on how they played @Auburn last year? Just because they had one bad game or a bad series doesn’t mean they aren’t a good team.

If Johnson ever figures out how to throw strikes consistently he is going to be one hell of a pitcher.

Dude has got sick stuff of course it does him no good if he can’t throw strikes consistently.

Their pitching staff has been impressive so far this season. And even though Cam clearly struggled on the mound last night doesn't take away from what he done up until last night. Now with that being said I am far more impressed with their Saturday (#2) starter than Cam. LJ Mercurius has been an absolute stud this season and is damn near unhittable at times.

Don't overreact to 1 game. Now if we can continue to improve and show consistency at the plate and our starters can be in the zone I like our chances against anyone but don't discount the sooners after 1 game when Evans threw the best game of his career.

No. And btw, I have no idea how good Oklahoma is. I have my doubts though. They might be fantastic. Or they might be super average. Time will tell. And even if they are fantastic, I don't think they played well last night. I am curious to see how our offense looks tonight against a pitcher that seems to be much better than Cam.

His brother threw well last night.

Looks like his brother committed to OU in November of 2024, and LJ followed him there through the portal after a couple seasons at UNLV. I knew LJ was a portal guy, I just didn't realize Xander was the original OU commit of the two.
