MY definition of disposable: low cost, limited options, under powered, cheaper to scrap than repair and generally imploded soon after payoff.

Chevy:
Lumina
Cavalier
Chevette

Ford:
Pinto
Escort
Probe

Chrysler/Dodge:
K car
LaBaron

I’m sure that I’m missing a lot of good ones.
Side note, were there ever any “disposable” trucks? Nothing comes to mind.

I had a Ford Escort that lasted more than 20 years and 300k miles. It got incredible gas mileage. By the time I was done with it, I think I had replaced nearly every moving part on it.

The ex got the Lumina in true divorce in 91. That one has my vote. She abandoned it on the side is the road not long after. I got my son in exchange and raised him to be a good adult.

Hard to argue.

I'll enter the Chevy Cobalt into the mix.

As for a truck that was disposable. Isuzu sold a truck in the US in the 90's. Pretty sure everyone just drove them to a scrapyard once they were done with them.

There's no KIA's on your list?

Nevermind, that's any car made after Covid, and definitely after the "Cash for Clunkers". If it doesn't work, you probably need to renew your subscription

Yo! So we're just going to let it slide past us that she traded parental rights for a Lumina? What did you marry?

Used EVs are becoming rock bottom in price. Basically because everyone thinks the batteries will be too expensive to repair.

In general, cars of the last 10 years are becoming very complicated and will likely be bricks after 15 years. It’s not like a 1990 truck a mechanic can rebuild in his driveway.

My highschool buddy had one of these. It was absolutely bulletproof. One time he got it stuck in a sandbar by the amite river and so he left it there overnight. Then it flooded and the truck was submerged in river water up to the door handles. Several days later after the water had receded he finally got it pulled out of the sand and the truck started right up and he drove it away. I think he ended up putting 300k miles on it before it finally died and he drove it like a bat out of hell too

DO NOT discount the Sunbird. I briefly dated a girl who drove a 92. Rattle trap bucket of bolts after 15k miles if you were lucky.

My BiL had a diesel Isuzu truck. The odometer stopped working so there is no telling how many miles he had on it. He only stopped driving it when it rusted out.
