If you could select one baseball player that transferred out, who are you taking?

Brady Neal was infuriating to watch. His facial expressions and mannerism were nails on a chalk board. The way he would act like he got hit by the pitch on every inside pitch was bush league. You'd see the replay it would be like 6 inches away from him. He'd also talk to the ump after every single strike called. God I hated that guy. IDC if he turned into the second coming of Buster Posey, I don't want him on my team.

Probably Ashton Larson, Costello, or Roellig

I see Brady Neal was 2-10 in SEC play this weekend. That checks out

Brady Neal?? Are you insane?? That dude was a Chode and belongs at bama, I want no part of him. Costello is probably taking advantage of a terrible schedule and pitching, but I wouldnt mind having him.

Costello and Ryan are the ones you hate to lose especially as they develop
Ryan was the best hitter in the state and maybe he's your 2nd baseman until Milam moves on

Costello showed a lot of promise in scrimmages at lsu but that's what happens when Jared Jones comes back instead of going pro as a draft eligible soph

Jay even talked about it in the in game interview yesterday with Jake Brown
Look at his start this year and you see the development over 3 years

That's the challenge with the portal, you are gonna lose really good young players who might not be ready right away

Neal was a headcase and Larson would not see the field with current LSU OF

Agree on Ash Larson, felt like his best ball was ahead of him.

Costello for sure. Not any of the OF's because we're good there already.
How is Costello's fielding this year?

Its not Brady Neal. By all accounts he was an entitled IMG malcontent who couldnt hit. Perhaps he has matured, but even if you assume he did, he hit .219 after Bama gave him the starting job on a platter.

In his defense, he has hit well this spring. Until this past weekend when he went 2-10 against KY.

I mean, lsu should have a bunch of guys with padded stats too, and they don’t. Their schedule hasn’t been great.

Yeah, I'd say Costello.

People here are too invested in hating Neal to look at him logically, but he, Mikey Ryan (though he would have to play 3rd or 2nd), or Austin Roellig look like good choices.

We don't need outfielders, IMO, though Larson's bat would be welcome.

All of the infielders that left are performing better than the ones we brought in.

It's probably Brady Neal but he was douchey so I'm good with sticking to Bide and Serna.

Mikey would prob be starting at 2B then take over at SS when Milam leaves.

Costello

Ryan (to play 2nd)

Holt (to play 2nd)

Roelling is hitting .393, but his OBP is only .449. Which is good by itself, but you’d expect it to be higher hitting .393. So he clearly doesn’t walk a lot. And he’s only slugging .557, which again, is good by itself, but not great when he’s hitting .393. So that shows he lacks some pop. Only has 1 homer and 10 RBI in 15 games started. Probably’s had some good batted ball luck and will that average and OBP will likely drop considerably by the end of the year.

If Pearson becomes our everyday 3B, he might not catch Roelling in B.A., but I think he winds up with a higher OBP and SLG. And he’ll probably double or triple—maybe quadruple—Roelling’s home runs and maybe even RBI if the guys in front of him start getting on base more consistently. I don’t remember anything about Roelling’s defense, and I think if anything keeps Pearson out of the lineup that’ll be it.

But you don’t have to be great at 3B—think about Berry in ‘22 and Tanks in ‘23—you just can’t be a huge liability. We’ll see how Big John’s size affects his ability to move laterally to his left and to come up on slow rollers or bunts with a few more games of reps and whether he’s plenty serviceable or a liability. I don’t really blame him on that throw from
2nd yesterday. That was a terrible position Jay put him in. And most 1B would have scooped that short hop throw anyway.
