A new poll commissioned by Sen. Bill Cassidy shows him leading the field in the Louisiana Republican primary race and in a hypothetical head-to-head runoff against Congresswoman Julia Letlow.
Cassidy paid for the Public Opinion Strategies poll, which the campaign said was conducted from March 7-10.
The survey shows Cassidy with 35%, Letlow with 24%, state Treasurer John Fleming with 21% and 18% undecided in the May 16 party primary election.
It shows Cassidy leading Letlow 45% to 43% in a head-to-head runoff, reversing Letlow's January lead of 46% to 40% in a previous Cassidy campaign poll.
Cassidy and super PACs supporting his campaign have spend millions on attacks ads with a "Liberal Letlow" theme that they say have been effective in suppressing her support.
Letlow's campaign ads and social media posts have consistently reminded voters that Cassidy voted to convict President Trump during his 2021 impeachment trial, which is the vote that put Cassidy at risk despite being the incumbent.
Trump has endorsed Letlow in the race.
The Cassidy campaign poll also shows Fleming, who it describes as "underfunded," gaining ground from the January poll, when Fleming was at 16%.
A February poll commissioned by Fleming showed Fleming leading the race with 26% followed by Letlow with 25% and Cassidy trailing the field at 22%.

I may move to Texas just to vote for Ken Paxton and to not have to say that TPOS Cassidy is my Senator.
SMDH.
SMDH.

Really wish Trump was better at picking candidates to endorse. If he had endorsed Fleming, I dont think it would even be close.

We just need Flemming to beat out vax lover Letblow and make the runoff with Stork.

Everyone always bitching about RINO this RINO that. The truth is it’s the people who are the RINOs. We are the problem, it’s not the elites or the media or the politicians. It’s us.

I know Trump is a busy guy, but does he even know who Letlow is? Who gathered facts on the Cassidy-replacement candidates? You'd think he'd be a little more invested in getting revenge on a guy who literally voted to both impeach AND convict him.

The only way I am undecided is who I’m going to vote for when I don’t vote for Bill Cassidy

I actually got called for a poll last week on these candidates. I can't see him leading though. Every time he posts on FB or whatever people troll the shite out of him.

You're not wrong. A large number of posters on this board who pretend to be Conservatives wants to see the most Conservative vote in Congress tossed on his arse because he opposed increasing deficit spending.

If true, would be just the latest example why DC politicians for so long have fundamentally believed we regular folks are idiots.

Unless Cassidy gets almost all of the undecided it’s headed to runoff and Letlow and Fleming voters aren’t going for Cassidy if their candidate doesn’t make it.

All this means is Cassidy is toast. Anyone in his camp celebrating this is a moron.

Agree. With those numbers, I don't see how he survives the closed primary runoff, whether it's Letlow or Fleming he goes against. As long as the losing party between Letlow/Fleming voters don't take their ball and go home.

Like the GOP congress, I see the LA voters in disarray being so split between Letlow and Fleming that Cassidy establishes a pathway to re-election. I hope I'm wrong and that we don't mimic a GOP fire drill.
