OT help me out... I need to replace an AC unit on my house in BR. It's an older unit and need to replace outside unit and the evaporator coils. Possibly the whole system since it's 17 years old. Recommendations???

Merritt has the best customer service hands down. I don’t know if they will go to Baton Rouge but I’d call them.

I haven't needed to do something big like a replacement, but I've had nothing but good experiences with Capital City Comfort.

I use Chauvin’s Heating & A/C. They are way more reasonably priced than the big outfits in my experience.

You can call River City's One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating. No matter what issue you are having they will suggest you replace anything in your house associated with the AC. If you don’t buy into their suggestions and already know exactly what you need, they’ll charge you 4x what other companies charge. But, they do show you their quotes on ipads and radio guys can’t say enough good things about them.

Baton Rouge Heating and Air Conditioning has always been straightforward and reasonably priced.

+1 for Capital City but I've also only used them for smaller repairs not a whole swap. I'm sure that's normal scope of work for them though

Follow the ownership. Sure enough, One Hour is owned by private equity. Gotta squeeze out every last penny from the end consumer.

According to the general contractors here, most HVAC people only have time to work for them, and will drop everything at your house to go to their jobs.

They did a whole system for me several years ago. Good to work with. Price was fair I believe.

When my heat went out during a big freeze and couldn’t get the boat in BR, they drove to Hammond to get the part and came back about 8 pm to fix my furnace.

Get at least 4 estimates. The prices vary wildly.
