House votes 357-65 to block release of congressional sexual misconduct and harassment repo

While we're all arguing over Iran, Israel, etc:
182 Democrats & 175 Republicans voted to block it
Worse?
Congress has apparently paid out $17mil in settlements in these instances. That likely means your tax dollars were used.
We're so f-ed, it's beyond comprehension.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. I can't imagine how slimy things are behind the scenes.

Seems like we're about to find out before too long

What's the plausible argument for this? That a lot of these are likely BS claims that if settled were for de minimus amounts?
I don't really know how it works, but if our money is used for the defense or settlement then we should know. It sucks for those people with fake claims that will have to wade through the optics to explain, but you're a public official.
If it has details of claims settled privately by the personalities involved with confidentiality agreements (not bought by public funds), that could be different.

Paul is in the Senate, so he didn’t vote on this.
Massie and Khanna voted to release the info.
Temu Obama and Mike Johnson voted to keep it sealed.

So now we know who is fully corrupted. There should be bait legislation that if you don't vote for it you get ousted from congress. Things like this should be unanimous as yes, unless you are bought and paid for or are a guilty yourself

Was there anything else in the bill that they voted against?

That's false. They voted in favor of directing the Committee on Ethics to preserve and publicly release records of the Committee's review of violations or alleged violations.
Nancy Mace is actually crazy. People need to stop taking her seriously

There is nothing stopping the media from asking congressman nonstop about their “no” vote, but here we are.
For all of you that believe in “distractions”; there are NO distractions with a dishonest media that serves one party’s propaganda demands.
The media lies on top of lies and creates the mirage in the first place and some of you think there are “distractions”. No.

The day a check is paid, all details should be released of the accusation and the investigative findings.

curious massie's position on this

Much bigger issue than the tainted Epstein files. Nothing happens to the elite class anyway

No, it is not false. They voted to send it to ethics with a non-binding directive to preserve and release the information. Ethics however operates under its own set of rules and can, and will, either ignore it or vote to take no further action on it and the bill will die there. If they hadn't voted to send it to ethics it would have gone to a floor vote. So instead they sent it to ethics to die.

Massie was a no vote. Which, in this case, was a good thing. He is one of the few who didn't vote to send the bill to die.

I would love to see an youtuber ask one of these scumbags why the voted no. And after the scum says "I voted no because" at which point the mic is pulled away and the youtuber steps away from the scum and says "there you have it representative _____ just admitted to voting to conceal from the public which members of congress have had pay outs to people that accused them of sexual harassment"!

That's a lot of words to say that I was correct in that they didn't vote to block it. It got kicked back to the Committee so that the issue can be addressed in a way that doesn't blow up potentially innocent members of Congress, or potentially dox the victims
