I'm seeing stories of Americans stuck in Dubai, SHOCKED a war broke out while there

How fricking retarded does one have to be to visit the middle east and just assume it's safe? I know Dubai is probably the best place in all of the middle east, but it's still in an incredibly unstable region. I'll never understand the attraction to that region. I wouldn't be caught dead visiting the middle east.

Quite a few American oil & gas folks living and working out there. My uncle lived in Dubai for several years working for Conoco.

The Red Sea is beautiful with excellent snorkeling/diving opportunities and the vast majority of Arabs aren’t America hating terrorists.

You get paid a lot to work there but it seems they should have heeded the warnings from the State Department and noticed that a lot of their non essential personnel in the region were getting the hell out of Dodge. Were they just not watching the news or checking their phones the weeks leading up?
