Ridiculous and a complete slap in the face to every tax payer in Mississippi.

When you have the generational dynasties that Ole Miss and Miss St bring you have to pull out all the stops to keep it going.

I think this is my red line with college sports. If these motherfrickers don’t have to pay taxes, I’m going to lose my mind.

Why are these queers more special than anybody else in Mississippi?
This is insanity unchecked
If I lived in Mississippi, I'd be so damn pissed
Imagine a working baw who doesn't give two shits about college athletics... just trying to get by on what he makes, and then they're told they are now second class citizens to a group of people who play games for a living... I'd riot and burn it all down

Imagine being a teacher, firefighter, or cop and some 18 year old backup QB who will never see the field doesn’t have to pay taxes.
Absolute clown show

Don’t blame them, blame the politicians. Some are too comfortable, they need to sweat

Just for clarification, Mississippi is phasing out state income tax anyway

While this is bullshite, is it fundamentally that much different than giving some foreign state company tax rebates/exemptions to relocate/build a site in Mississippi? That happens all the time without a whole ton of bitching and moaning.

now yall are acting all self-righteous about student athletes
some of us were never comfortable with where this would ultimately lead
and I can still be true to my school and proud of it

Oh...don't worry. That attempt is likely to rear its head again this coming Louisiana Legislative Session.
State Rep. Dixon McMakin, R-Baton Rouge (and LSU announcer?) authored one last year making NIL earnings for student athletes completely exempt from state taxes. It didn't really go anywhere..
With all the excitement around Lane Kiffin and I'm sure some state politicians wanting to be able to take credit when/if the LSU team makes the CFP or wins a NC, there will probably, unfortunately, be more momentum in the Legislature to actually pass something like this.
Funny that all other college students having to work jobs to help pay for their schooling would still be subject to state taxes, right?

And that's what Louisiana SHOULD do.

There's an economic ROI with that though in the form of jobs, taxes, and development

Some were making that argument last session as to why Louisiana should pass the no taxes on NIL bill.

Isn't that like in 10 years?

That's fine, college athletes shouldn't get a multi year head start just cuz. Either everyone pays the state income tax or nobody does.

Ridiculous. Exempting privileged highly compensated athletes without doing the same for same age workers is unacceptable. Life isn’t fair, but this is simply poor public policy.
