2003*
Crazy that Depp even got nominated for best actor at the Oscar’s for it
But he’s perfectly cast for it
The spirits walking the ocean floor scene was so badarse
What a great and fun movie

Great movie. I ran into dead men tell no tales on FX yesterday and despite it being below the trilogy its still a fun movie.
I think it being compared to the originals is why people were disappointed.
Its also why i decided to watch the Bounty last night haha
There arent any films that hit that swashbuckler niche since the POTC movies.
The new prime pirate movie isnt really a pirate movie and the reviews are awful

And black sails is the best pirate series. We could use more.

Black Sails and the OG Pirates are ELITE. We need more pirate movies. That Bluff on prime was decent background but the female john wick was not believable at all.

How have they not done this on the rewatchables? Probably because bill is stuck in the 80s and it feels like he isn’t partial to many turn of the century blockbusters. Except fast and furious

As crazy as it seems, how to train your dragon is the closest thing to potc thematically. Especially the 2nd one

Rewatched all of the original trilogy recently. So good.
Supposedly there’s a decent chance at Pirates 6 to end the tale of Jack Sparrow

The last movie is so over the top that it turned people off. Its the end of the ride and it all ramps up just like a theme park ride.

I love LOTR. It's perfection. Arguably, no need to rewatch.

Haha but he never watched it at all and refuses to

The last one of the trilogy was borderline unwatchable and took lots of shine off the first two. I personally preferred the second one.

They all hold up well (original trilogy).

Go rewatch it today and see if you still feel that way. Its longer but it is a good movie

They just couldn't stand him," says Depp. "I think it was Michael Eisner, the head of Disney at the time, who was quoted as saying, 'He's ruining the movie.'
Just goes to show you how inept the top level people are when it comes to spotting talent. We're looking at you too Kathleen Kennedy.
And I loved Keira Knightley.
