I refreshed my podcast app it tries to update 49. I know a lot of those are 8-10 episodes and done. Some I was/am caught up on and others a year behind or not even up to COVID in some. Looking at you Crime in Sports.

I may be one of few here but I mainly listen to music. I listen to people all day talk. Music relaxes me and gives me a break from that.

Around 20 or so that I listen to when traveling. Latest one I’m into is Acquired.

Don't know, not going to count. I listen to UK, Reds and Bengals podcasts, and then several different history podcasts.

I’m probably up to 20 subscribers. But I only choose to listen to those who have interesting guests.
I used to be like that.
But the repetitive nature of hearing the same songs over and over again became less relaxing and more irritating. Even attempts to have Spotify recommend new songs I might enjoy failed. It became an exercise of how long I can endure a song before skipping to the next. So much music is formulaic crap, too many lyrics suck.
It led me to realize that even the best artists have an abundance of stinkers. But we primarily know them by their hits. It seems to be the only profession where those who judge the quality of your work accept multiple failures in succession (on a single album), do not expect sustained success, just a hit per year - and some don’t achieve that. A one hit wonder can achieve infamy forever.
Podcasts on the other hand offer an exciting opportunity to learn new things from subject matter experts.

When I started learning guitar over a decade ago I had this same realization, “Damn, most of these folks actually arent that great…” or 9/10 songs are the same like 3 notes just in a different pattern.
There’s like 3-4 podcasts that release every 2 weeks or so that I get excited to listen to, but other than that as I’ve gotten older I’ve become more appreciative of being in my own quiet.

I probably listen to between 8-10 total - all sports related - and really only about half of that number to I listen to on a regular basis.

13. It's a mix of comedy and politics.

Zero.
If I wanted to listen to people ramble on about things I’d just turn on the news.
