Why should we stay in NATO?

Spinoff from other thread. Saw a few “no, that’s stupid” type responses. So, what’s the upside to stay in?

It's your band, sure a few of the people in it aren't playing, but why let a couple losers make you quit your band in a rage fit.
We own NATO.
That means if we get in a big war there are useful allies who will side with us.
There are 3 nations in NATO armed with Nuclear Subs (US , France, UK).
They add hundreds of planes to our fleets, they have solid land armies in Poland and Finland.
Why give them up because some of the others are PoS America haters.

Yep, I know we have the strongest military in the world but going it alone isn’t the answer. It’s never been an issue til trump came along.

Neither is funding it alone.

Defending Europe shouldn’t be America’s responsibility. If the Ukraine war has proven anything it’s that they don’t need us to beat Russia anymore.

That is pretty self explanatory. Trump will not always be in office. We may not always even have a Bush level Republican in office. Imagine going into a major war with Biden and the Dems in charge. They always strip away funding for the military and put incompetent people in charge. I would feel better in that circumstance with thestrength in numbers philosophy.

NATO was formed as a defensive alliance to stop the spread of communism across Europe by the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union no longer exists. Russia is not a communist state. The only small remnants of communism that remain are largely in the Western European countries we defend. The original needs for NATO, ideology against communism and military defense from a Soviet Union determined to spread that communist ideology, no longer exist.
Europe does not share our values of democracy and free speech.
NATO has moved from a defensive military alliance to an offensive expansionary military alliance, threatening instability and the provocation of war. Moreover, it has swollen to a bureaucracy that exists to support lifelong political bureaucrats and their organizations that bleed taxpayer money like parasites.
It allows Europe to shirk its own responsibility for its own defense.
China is our threat. NATO and Europe will not support us in our rivalry with China. In fact, they will seek to undermine us in many respects.
We need to exit NATO.
It not longer serves the interests of the USA.

NATO was meant as an alliance against the Soviet Union (now Russia). They are shrinking demographically. The further they shrink, the less necessary NATO becomes. Unfortunately, Europe is shrinking too (as per the plan), so there's no telling how long we'll stay a part of it.

The NATO summit was held in DC in 2024. I am sure the escorts and prostitutes benefited substantially.
