Tell me about Loyola and the surrounding area.

My Son recently committed to Loyola and Im wondering if the OT has any tips, inside info, suggestions, for an incoming Freshman besides PIIHB.
If you attended or graduated from Loyola what programs would you recommend to someone not sure what they wanted to pursue? I hear good things about their law and business programs
How's the social scene? What to avoid? Where does the high level trim hang out?
Just a dad trying to help his son. Thanks in advance

Live south of Claiborne, east of Carrollton and West of Napoleon and he will be fine. Outside of there case by case basis.
The area itself is fine. Tulane PD has jurisdiction over the area (1 miles from campus) so that is who he needs if he needs someone. Yankee women live there and have no issues so as long as your son is that capable then he won't have a problem.

It's directly next to Tulane in one of the nicest, richest parts of the city. I think most of those questions answer themselves

Uptown New Orleans across from Audubon Park and next to Tulane. High rent district. Pretty safe area. Might get your car broken into or drunk college kids disturbing the peace at 130 in the morning.

I don’t go to Loyola, but I just got my upteenth boil water advisory in the past year. Wonder what our amazing tax-funded sewage and water board found this time.
In general, nice area, but my best advice is never leave valuables in your car. I saw a low-life raggedy white man last month on his bike at 1:09 AM pulling on car handles as he rode down the street. Wanted to wring his neck because it’s because of people like him why our city has its problems, among other reasons.

Just make sure he locks his car at night and has a discreet location for Amazon deliveries.

Believe he will have to live on campus now for the first 2-3 years.
Loyola is fine. Had several good friends attend. There will be a decent bit of local kids as well as out of Towners. It’s got some good programs. Some teachers are great, some less so. With Tulane right there and the park there are lots of young people around.

That area is not bad. Tell him to use common sense after dark and don't drink too much at the Boot. If you want to impress him with some great fatherly advise, tell him to avoid the catholic girls with their tiny little mustaches, and avoid the jewish broads with sideburns.

Is he an athlete? Hopefully he gets a full ride otherwise Loyola is way overpriced.

Lived and Two blocks away from campus, while it’s an affluent and generally safe area, 4-5 blocks away you have hood activity. Culture rich individuals walk the area to seek out opportunities for a pay day. Car jacking and sexual assaults happened when I was in school, I’d be more concerned if it was your daughter. He just needs to be aware, especially at night walking from bars.

Friar Tucks closed a few years back. Memories are preserved by the Krewe of Tucks.

I’m a statistician at-work on the graveyard shift.
And your Mom seems to really like my low-lifeness, for the record.

Huge water main break in front of Chicken and Watermelon at Claiborne and Toledano. It’s flowing like a river apparently.

They just spent like two years redoing Claiborne at that intersection.
