State confirms outbreak of sexually transmitted fungal infection, experts urge caution

quote:

Minnesota health officials are warning of an outbreak of a contagious fungal skin infection.

The condition is triggered by Trichophyton mentagrophytes genotype VII (TMVII), the same fungal species that causes ringworm.

The primary symptom is round, red, irritated rashes that spread across the body, which can be itchy and painful, according to the state’s health alert.

quote:

TMVII spreads through direct skin-to-skin contact with the fungus, including sexual activity, according to the alert.

Fungal spores can also spread via contaminated objects and surfaces, such as sharing towels at the gym or walking around barefoot in communal bathing facilities.

quote:

"The populations currently at greatest risk are men who have sex with men and commercial sex workers; however, the infection can be spread from any infected individual," he told Fox News Digital.

Of course.

Such a shite hole. Can the other 49 states have a vote to force them out of the union? Just give em to Canada.

Interesting how homos are always at the greatest risk of catching diseases. Almost like it isn’t natural or something.

"...commercial sex workers..."

As opposed to consumer sex workers?

How can they diagnosis it on people with higher concentrations of Melanin?

With a certain Minnesota population, this question could be important.

Unlike other “STDs”, this looks more like a sex frequency issue than a physiological one, which is why sex workers are included in the same sentence. And frankly, calling this an STD is clickbaity bullshite to begin with, which the article itself tacitly acknowledges. It’s like calling the flu an STD because people are spreading it while having sex

Remember how fast monkey pox was first changed to m-pox then completely whisked away when it was found to be primarily found among gays?
