That's an odd name for a young Scottish lass.

This is offensive.

Joan d'Arc was French.

Fun fact: the entire Harriet Tubman and underground railroad story is made up by a Communist woman in the 20th century...

Nothing about her story is real.

Will it stay isolated to that?

The recent Helen of Troy news says no.

I mean, British and Scottish theater has long race swapped traditional roles. Adrian Lester as Hamlet in the National Theater for instance almost 20 years ago. Most famously with Ira Aldridge playing Othello in the 1800s.

That all said, my understanding is this play is not an original, traditional play and a highly stylized re-telling (also not terribly uncommon in theater productions).

Which is still rumor and nothing confirmed.

Hamlet and Othello =/= Joan of Arc

Did not know that, fair enough.

I mean if this were the only instance, and it were isolated, maybe not so much of a deal.

But it's 1) A Real person 2) Her story means something to people and 3) Not the only time this happens with Christian content. Twisting it for "modern" purposes. And yes, the story changes are just as bad as the race swapping.
