Sources tell On3 that LSU safeties coach Jake Olsen has ultimately decided to stay in Baton Rouge with the Tigers. The Washington Commanders had moved to hire him on Friday, but Lane Kiffin made clear he wanted Olsen to remain at LSU.

BOOM
Lane Kiffin knows that defense is good and needs continuity. Offense gonna take care of itself.

Lane is the new honey badger. He takes whatever he wants.

Daronte Jones tried but failed

In year 1 for Kiffin at Ole Miss, he had Ole Miss at 1st in total offense and 3rd in scoring offense after 9th & 6th in 2019.
Ole Miss was dead last in defensive scoring and total defense in his first year.
Playoff bound easily with a good defense and his offense in year 1 here.

He takes that name from Weeks because Whit takes whatever he wants from Landry!

Moving 7 or more times in 10-13 years while working very early / late hours…
Life is short! Better love what you do. Welcome back, Coach.
No matter how much money you make or have the potential to make…
Bring it! Not getting more time. Let’s get wins!

Am I wrong for sort of wanting Jake Olsen to take the job? Nothing against Olsen but Raymond can handle the Safety’s too.
It’s DBU not CBU and it would open another coaching spot.

Good news for us indeed. Anyone know why he came back? He was pretty much gone. Commanders hire someone else?

Something special is brewing in BTR. Ready for it all to unfold.

Lane made it known he wanted Olsen to stay at LSU. Possibly got a raise, but Lane is really making it happen behind the scenes.

There were a lot of questions in D.C. when rumors surfaced on Friday that Olsen was being targeted by the Commanders.
Why? The Commandeers held a press conference a week ago announcing their new coordinators and re-shuffled coaching staff. That announcement included both a CB coach and a Safeties coach.
I don’t know what role Olsen would have had with the Commanders, but it wasn’t going to be as a position coach.

An LSU team led by Max JOHNSON (!!!) actually beat Ole Miss 53-48 in an offensive slugfest that year

Smart move because Dan Quinn could be gone after the 2026 season.
