No, it's being brought to a lab in Utah for testing. Military is investing in small, portable nuclear reactor technology that can be used for powering a wide array of military installations and not have to rely on conventional power.
The reactors are supposed to be easy to setup, link up and then be taken down and moved if needed.
The future of energy production will be stuff like this. Solar and Wind Power are childish fantasies that can never live up to the hype. Nuclear SMR's are the future.

Thank you for this explanation.
My perpetual pessimism had me automatically expecting for it to be used to power new data centers.

That's a lot of weight! What makes them safer than regular nuclear reactors?

Not sure. That’s why they’ll take it out to Orangeville to run tests .
He was excited to participate in it.

When the idea of SMRs (Small Modular Reactors) came about, my initial thoughts were rural Military Installations (or quick deployment installations) would be the initial user.

Plexiglass. Duh.

Thats awesome. In theory, how much output? Sell them to cities and with the turn of a key, free power to residents...or businesses, etc.

If it produces enough power to power electric motors for the props, why not.

They have a wide range of less than 1MW to tens of megawatts.

I knew a kid in high school who grew up on a remote base in the desert. He said his Dad was part of a team trying to develop a nuclear powered bomber. I think he said they couldn't make it practical and dropped the project. I guess if you have a nuclear powered bomber, you can put it in the air and not have to worry about refueling it.

Smaller ships will thrive on SMRs

Next step is fusion reactors
Fusion is an unobtainium boondoggle. Fission is plenty enough and the downsides have already been designed out. We just need the drive to build them.
Not a contrarian dickhead internet take. Just chiming in.
