Does BRPD or EBRSO give traffic tickets any longer?

Several times in the last year I have seen people commit obvious traffic violations, right in front of a motorcycle cop, or a marked police car, and nothing happens. Today I got off at the O'neal I-12 exit, I was turning right, so I drove on the shoulder to get around the left turning traffic. I looked in my rear-view mirror; there was a motorcycle cop behind me who saw my illegal move, I thought, damn, busted, but nothing.

Then I realize, except for the Interstate, I have not seen anyone get a ticket in years.

I’ve seen them set up at multiple spots shooting radar around town. In the last 6 months.

There are usually always three unmarked white units sitting by the O'Neal exit I-10 westbound, they are running plates and radar. They are definitely still handing out tickets around town, some infractions more worth their time than others I suppose. Be careful between Jones Creek and Millerville, they like to every so often sit somewhere on that stretch by the school.

Cops in Houston ignore people driving in the dark with no lights, and for sure left lane campers. They need that sweet, sweet, revenue from ticketing people in the HOV lane that only have one person in the car. Lots of enforcement when it's light enough to do passenger counts, not so much when motorcycles are running 120 inside the beltway.

You weren’t black. Be grateful.

You have already seen that walking while brown will get you hemned up with ice.

White dude, ain’t worth the time.

May hate the reality but officers are gonna pick and choose their battles. Retirements depends on it

If you are brown, flush it down.

White folks, keep around

No. No traffic, littering nor anything deemed petty.

no

They don’t even come out when you call them

I was speeding down Jones Creek about a year ago and a sheriff was in the Presbyterian church’s parking lot

I thought he wasn’t going to do anything until he put his lights on when I turned right on S Harrell’s Ferry. He told me to slow down, but didn’t give me a ticket.

Not sure what that was all about - I was doing 50 in a 40.

Got to BR/LSU almost 20 years ago and I can’t remember ever being pulled over in town. Only in St Tammany

Cops don’t care. They just want to get home alive. I don’t blame them the way the justice system is so weak.

I haven’t seen a cop writing a ticket on the Interstate since before Covid. Hell, I don’t even see Livonia PD writing tickets anymore. I can’t recall seeing BRPD writing any tickets since the either.

They all seem to have just given up.

BRPD and EBRSO both have about half as many cops on the streets as they did twenty years ago. Except for the ones that are specifically assigned to traffic enforcement, there's just not going to be a lot of time for the others to enforce the petty stuff. And there's half as many specifically assigned to traffic enforcement as there was back then so there's a downturn on that front too.

A coworker got one recently.
Now your ticket is electronic. You sign a little handheld device instead of a paper ticket.
This makes it more difficult to get your ticket fixed as most cops or lawyers that can help, need a picture of the ticket.
Not sure if you get an emailed copy or what

I witness at least 20 traffic violations every time I travel down college drive. Just yesterday a dude ran a light right in front of a cop and nothing. It’s emboldened people to drive even shittier than before. We are devolving as a society.

BRPD traffic is down to 4 bikes a shift
EBRSO was down to two, Sid and the new traffic captain have changed that. They have to squads now, one in the northern part of the parish and one working the south.

My brother in law recently retired from the police dept. He said over the last few years under the previous administration especially it wasn't worth the possible outcome to write tickets. The officers knew noone would have their back if a routine traffic stop went bad. So many just stopped active policing.

this seem like a cop out (pun intended). Multiple posters here witness cops sit idly by and do nothing when infractions are committed right in front of them. Yet those same officers aren't doing jack shite when this happens. Most of the time I see police, they are simply driving along like the rest of us or sitting somewhere. Appearing to be doing absolutely nothing. No one expects them to stop directing traffic or an investigation to write a ticket.
But when they are literally sitting in their unit and someone runs a red light, shouldn't they be inclined to pursue the offender? And define "petty stuff". What "major" acts of crime are happening so frequently and where?

It may appear that they are just driving along, but 95% of all calls for service are code 1 or 2 which is no lights or siren. Officers get down numerous reports especially during day time. So they may be on their way to a call or to type reports.
Previous administration killed morale as well
