People like to squawk about this country or that country violating the "human rights" of their citizens. This was always Jimmy Carter's mantra. If he had paid more attention to his own people and less about Iranian civilians, he might have been re-elected.

As it stands, I care about protecting the rights of Judeo-Christians worldwide and especially those in the U.S. That is it. If China wants to treat their people like garbage, I cant work myself up to care.

I am sure some think I am wrong, but from an ultra- conservative viewpoint, why should I care?

Are rights in general a real thing at all? One has to decide if rights are a real thing first before establishing what our opinions of them and their enforcement should be.

Wrong board.
What did Carter do for Iranian rights? Before my time, but didn't he basically stand by and watch the Iranian revolution? Wasn't it inflation largely due to the oil crisis thanks to our "friends" in OPEV that did him in?

Why care about Judeo Christians worldwide? Why care about anyone other than yourself?

My sort of post-GWOT/neocon internal thought is that America, if we had the luxury, should go to bat for people with a righteous cause who've put it on the line for said cause. I prefer we do so only for those groups who are likely to be aligned (or at least not opposed) to us for the foreseeable future.

So, on one hand, in Iran, this is perhaps more legit than any other in my adult lifetime. Iranians are doing more or less what I ask - they've got considerable skin the game and are sacrificing and asking for our help.

Whether or not the other factors are met (will the liberated groups be non-adversarial to us over the long term, do we have the luxury of undertaking this) - are very questionable, though.

I can imagine Jesus saying that while he's strapped to the beam. He would be so proud of Merica.

Wow. And this is a Christian take?

I certainly care. I obviously am in no position to do anything about it, and holding up a sign in the street is just a self-centered attention grab.

The only rights we have are the ones that can be defended from anyone who wants to take them away.

Period.

If you have faith, God grants rights and and is the authority on what is right and wrong.

If you are not, I don't know where rights and morals come from. I guess you enjoy any right you can obtain or instill by force or violence, and morality is determined by the strongest individuals.

Yup. Our rights come from human action. Don't want to lose them due to inaction.

I like that half the OT is going "wow, you're limiting to Judeo-Christian, gross"

And the other half is like "uh, lose the Judeo dude"

So, human to you is only defined as Judeo-Christian in your OP. I'm not totally sure you know what you even believe.

I point to this quote, for the example. Completely down, out and hopeless Christians believe in Jesus but are shunned en masse daily, and without remorse. You among them.
