Edited to correct name.

If the authorities are able to find the kidnapper through this BTC wallet the veil of security using BTC will evaporate.

Or...

If the authorities cannot trace him through the BTC wallet it will reinforce the security.

I think this is a question that could have serious financial implications.

Either I think BTC moves significantly shortly.

What are your thoughts.

This is not on the money board because it's more a question of if BTC is truly secure and I don't think it is. Any time money is exchanged, it can be traced.

It should honestly never have existed. Blockchain transactions are obscenely publicly available.

That doesn't make it unsecure

How do you think they found all of the darkweb drug kingpins like Ross Ulbricht? This shite is traceable.

Good points. Could finding a way to identify him help secure it further in the future? But the current hit might be hard to come out of, since it's been on the down trend lately anyway.

I tried to dabble a little in BTC plays, to learn about it, and definitely learned it's not worth it.

Wallets are provided by companies that can be subpoenaed for information on their users, Bitcoin itself can be traded completely anomously (just not if you're using a wallet). It's like the difference in a 100 Dollar bill from when it's in your pocket to once you've deposited it into a bank.

So I saw the Harvey dude from TMZ say that he has seen action or money come into the BTC account of the ransom request. How is he able to view that?
I'm just not real clear on how you can keep hidden if you have a wallet of BTC. You have to have an account somewhere to be able to transfer BTC to that hard wallet. Right?

Bitcoin has fallen by half since it's October high in case you werent aware.

I would call that a crash, but it's an extremely volatile thing, it does this. Considering its still high risk, it will continue to have huge swings both directions

If it is digital or data related, it is traceable. Now, do nanotech.

BTC transactions are by design not private.

This is what countries like Ukraine are for. Cash out in Ukraine under an alias and the trail ends.

It’s worth it if it goes way up, and it’s not worth it if it doesn’t. This is corollary to the sage financial strategy of Buy low sell high.

I recommend you read my treatise on this, the text of which is the paragraph above. It summarizes all of my financial wisdom accumulated over my 63 years. It’s yours for free!

The bitcoin account is anonymous. The app you use to check it can and probably will not be.

Get the app provider to be willing to share the user info and coordinates of anyone who accesses and approves the transaction and you have a “person of interest”.

From there you work backwards and the rest of the crew.

Yeah why how I was trying to test it. Problem I found is there are no significant solid connection to why or when it goes up or down. Ie...if metals go up one would think BTC should be too, but it seems it depends on which major investors decide to go, which the laymen is unable to know. Iee... essentially like my oil plays going up with the VE and now Iran stuff. Though not as much as it would have a decade+ ago, but still moving up. Though didn't as much during the Israel war stuff, barely a bleep.

You'd need to link that to me as I don't know where to find it.

The amount of crypto can be be seen when it goes in and out of wallets. They just can't get into the wallets to get it (supposedly).

It's secure until super computers become more capable.

Anything you think can't be broken now will be breakable later at some point.
