Many such cases.
I was watching some cop show on Netflix the other day and there was a lesbian cop. It had nothing to do with the plot, but she superfluously referred to her wife so you would know she was gay. They never even showed the wife or referred to her sexual orientation again.
I guess there is a box they have to check off. Or lick ....

I enjoyed the original movie for what it was. I live in a neighborhood with about 100 homes, and I don’t think we have a single gay family living here. We do have black, Asian, and Hispanic families, but I don’t think any mixed marriages. A lot of this stuff is not nearly as common as you would think watching shows like this.

Black wife and white husband are pretty low on the percentage list for mixed marriages with only 2-4% of all marriages, depending on what source you look at. They are the least likely pairing to get divorced, though. There really aren't that many shows I can think of with a WM/BW marriage as the main characters.

I had to laugh, I saw the same thing on a show and I guess they think they have to dumb it down so they are certain we get it.
This girl referred to her "partner" rather than boyfriend so I got it. But to be certain she then followed it up with three references of she, my partner, she.
And yes it had nothing to do with the plot, its like saying get me a cup of coffee...with cream and sugar, with cream and sugar, did I say with cream and sugar. And you are waiting for some plot twist regarding the cream and sugar and there is none

Although I didn't see that Netflix show let me take a wild guess; the criminals were all white probably a 90% chance they were white males.

I recently saw a movie called “A Wing and a Prayer.” It’s a (pretty bad) movie based on an actual event in which a pilot dies shortly after takeoff, and the father passenger is forced to land the plane. They made the two real-life white air traffic controllers black just because that’s what movie people do these days.
