BATON ROUGE — A voter named Marian Hills has filed a petition with the Secretary of State’s Office to recall East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards, the office confirmed.
The recall petition was filed on Jan. 30th.
According to the recall petition, the reasons outlined for Edwards’ recall include: “Failure to provide effective leadership and administration of parish government; failure to demonstrate transparency and accountability to the citizens of East Baton Rouge Parish; and failure to act consistently in the best interest of the residents of the parish, resulting in a loss of public confidence in the office of Mayor-President.”

For East Baton Rouge, 47,297 valid signatures (or 20 percent of the active voting population) is needed, per Steve Raborn, registrar for East Baton Rouge Parish.
The completed petition is due within 180 days of filing, which would put the deadline at the end of July, Raborn explained. After the completed petition is submitted, the registrar’s office must then certify the petition, which will be passed on to the governor afterward. The governor must issue an election proclamation within 15 days after receiving the certified petition, as long as the required number of qualified voters signed it.

Can't any slapdick get a petition going? The hard part is actually getting the signatures.

Do they just dislike him because wyt? What has he done?

Let me guess. The disrespek is too much and she wants someone in the office who will cowtow to the likes of increased funding for the Council on Aging and other scams.

I know this thread was made to make fun of this woman but Edwards has been pretty disappointing. There has been little change or improvement in his term. He is squandering the one chance a white republican has to run Baton Rouge.

He had to cut the budget from all the fraud that went on.

This is so true. He could have rode the wave of Trump and Landry (whatever) to make hard changes. Need more fraud investigations and more transparency.
Get a colonoscopy style audit on BREC and COA. These are just cash cows for corruption.

Dude doesn’t know how to play the political game, but he managed to get all of the stakeholders behind a grand compromise on the budget, and the voters rejected it. He doesn’t seem to know what else to do with no budget. However, at least crime is somewhat down.

Black people are racist.
The end.
The end.

That might not be that hard to do these days in Baton Rouge.

if mayor coach had any sense he would jump right on this opportunity to force this idiot petitioner make her case, with evidence. have his staff contact her, and set up a meeting in full view of the voters to show that he is indeed transparent, accountable, consistent and willing to entertain criticism.
it would be entertaining if nothing else

I've been asking that same question for a year. I don't think he has a single accomplishment he can point to, does he?

I do agree with you but I'm assuming a recall would take a year then to hold an election. By this time his term would be over. Hopefully he can do something productive besides attending events for social media posts.

I was sexually assaulted last night on my Norwegian cruise.
The security reviewed the tapes and have revoked his drinking privileges, placed him on room confinement with a security guard outside his door, and the captain of the ship has decided to disembarking him in Belize tomorrow and send him back to the States.
The FBI is also being contacted due to it being a crime overseas.
What happened:
I was at karaoke, having a grand time. People were coming up to me, complimenting me. I was everyone’s hype girl. This was night two, so a few people, including this man, must have remembered me from night one.
This particular man, dressed in a fitted suit, with a tanned white complexion was all over another woman. Well, she was all over him, might I add. She danced on him during her performance, they were slow dancing together, kissing, rubbing on each other, all of that.
I never spoke to him. I didn’t even know him.
When it was my time to sing, I got up and did what I do, interacting with the crowd. While I was on stage, he walked up to me, rubbed his privates on me, and groped me while I was dancing.
I laughed it off and stepped away from him. Then he slapped my arse.
I stepped further away and he kept coming toward me. I stuck my arm out to turn him away and told the lady he was with to “get her man,” all while I was still trying to sing.
I attempted to finish, but I couldn’t. I thanked everyone and went to sit down.
I was literally shaking with anger. I felt so violated. I was mad that I didn’t punch him in his shite right then and there.
Like how DARE you?
I was so confused because he didn’t do that to anyone else.
Even the woman who was all over him, he showed her respect. He stood every time she came to sit next to him.
