Jurassic Park
Hunt For Red October
Event Horizon
In The Mouth of Madness
Dead Calm
Bicentennial Man
Merlin
No one pulls off the character who is the unheeded voice of wisdom better
Prove me wrong

Just in case someone read the thread title and had the same thoughts as I did, Sam Neil is still among us.

I'm just throwing flowers on a dawg who was great at his craft and took on some really cool roles
He excelled as being "the straight man" who either unraveled or went on to persever
I know he's retired, not post-humous

Also appears in The Triangle & briefly in Invasion on Apple TV. Real waste of a character & potential there.
I know the paleontologist (not personally) who served as the inspiration for the character of Alan Grant.

The Dish. One of his most underrated movies.

Yeah I was worried because he’s also fighting cancer

Your forgot his most daring role, Possession.

He was also badass in Daybreakers and Hunt for the Wilderpeople.

He was great in Peaky Blinders

He was so good in Peaky Blinders, that you can sense a real drop off once his character was killed. Some great ones listed but would add:
A Cry In the Dark (maybe the dingo ate your babeeee)
The Piano (everyone was great in this great movie).

Fantastic movie.

Neil is talented enough for the supporting roles he’s been in, I think he’s an accomplished actor.

I learned a few days ago they're remaking this
Posted on 2/3/26 at 8:50 am to SlowFlowPro
The obvious question is why but deep down I’ll still see it out of morbid curiosity

It's just way too weird of a movie to remake.
It's of its time/place, 100%
I think Margaret Qualley is going to star as the female lead. I didn't see who the male lead was going to be.
