Recommend a good garlic press

I used to have two decent garlic presses but they both broke. I have gone through a number of replacements but they are either a nightmare to clean or leave most of the garlic mashed up in the press.
Can somebody recommend a good, serviceable garlic press?

Thanks in advance.

This thing changed my life. Faster, easier, cleaner, and more capacity than a garlic press.

The best garlic press is one that stays in the drawer. Take a clove off the head, lightly crush with the side of your chef knife, the peel slides off easily, then give it another good whack with the knife side, a few knife strokes and you have minced garlic. Elapsed time <1 minute.

I have a really nice OXO garlic press in the drawer of misfit cooking tools, along with lettuce scissors, shrimp peelers etc..

This...or a Chinese cleaver.

I've never owned a garlic press. No need.

I find a garlic press wastes a lot.

I have a truffle shaver that's basically a handheld mandolin that uniformly slices garlic very thin. Much easier than slicing with a knife and less messy than a garlic press.

OXO Garlic Press Does everything I want it to do, and and easy enough to clean. Have had it long enough that I don't remember when I got it. I'll use a knife if I'm using 2-3 cloves, but when I'm using 15-20 I will pull out the press, better than using the stuff out a jar.

This way…add a little salt and make it smoother. Use a razor if you want thin slices.

No need to waste money and texture

The OXO model posted above is a great one. I’ve had mine for 11 years since I got it as a wedding gift and it’s still great. Sometime I don’t feel like chopping garlic and it’s a nice cheat. Also use the microplane quite often for garlic.

I’ve had a few, but I just hate peeling the residual out after every clove. If I’m making a “nice” dish I’ll just take the time to mince it with my knife. Otherwise, it’s Jarlic for me dawg

Same here. Can't really beat the side of a chef's knife to crush it a bit, making removing the peel very easy and then just rocking the knife over the garlic to finely mince it. No damn press to clean afterwards.

The only one I ever had was a gift and it died a lonely death in the misc. drawer in the kitchen.

Zulay Press. Cheap. All metal. All one piece. Easy squeeze, very little waste. Easy to clean.

I got one that splits open for easy cleaning. I went through a lot of presses. I normally use a knife but sometimes I want minced garlic. Though the best garlic tool I have is the quick peeler.

There’s no need to pull out what’s left in the press after each one, just keep putting whole cloves in the press and squeezing, what’s left in there will go through with the next one. I’ll throw the “residual” in the pot with the rest too of the garlic, so there isn’t any waste but a little juice.

Pretty sure he means the skins. I usually peel the garlic first and keep putting them through, but if only doing 1 or 2 cloves, I won't bother peeling. I use the OXO posted above.

If that’s the case I always peel the skin off the clove
