Quote from Daniel Jeremiah regarding the Saints draft plans potentially.

Thought this was an interesting nugget
I know some people are against RB that early but there’s a lot of early smoke around Love and the Saints.

There is a lot of excitement around Tyler Shough," Jeremiah said during a Friday appearance on the Rich Eisen Show (3:00 mark). "Listening to folks down here as well, talking to some guys around that organization and in that organization, there's an excitement there and they want to give him some more toys to play with. That's the best toy in the draft, in my opinion, in Jeremiyah Love."

I’m not the one making the decisions my guy

I got down voted to hell and I’m sure the trolls will dv this as well but I’ve been saying for a while the Saints want Love and he’s a lock at 8 if he’s in the board.
Amateur Coaches & GMs don’t understand the value of a talent like Love.

Right but who’s it coming from. Im sure the Saints are still evaluating players and no one from the Saints is actually gonna tip off anything anyway

I guess the many gms and people who do this for a living don’t believe in taking RBs in the top 10 are trolls? I really like Love. He’s incredible. This team needs receivers and interior olineman more than a rb right now. Jeanty is a perfect example along with Bijan on why you don’t. They just dont elevate your team enough and the rely on so many other positions in order to succeed.

You can and probably should get a guard in free agency and also draft one in later rounds. Needing a guard is not an excuse to not draft love.
Id rather personally spend the money and go after someone like Breece Hall instead of a RB in the first but if you think Love can be a guy that takes the pressure off Shough you do it.

Keep the QB protected and have a capable QB.
I believe in Shough.
Although I think there are some obvious warts on the Saints O-line.
if that first pick fits with the board then that's okay.
There is no perfect science here with this shite.

I feel like you can afford to, and should get an offensive weapon with one of the first two picks, but you can’t do both. Our defense is losing players and I don’t want to go back to the days of needing to score 40 to win.
If we go Love in round one, so be in, but then you have to go FA or later picks for WR and get a starter on defense with round 2.

The nice part is there's a lot of valuable RBs that will/can hit the market
Breece Hall - who I think has potential to be a top 5 RB similarly to AK. He can run routes. he has solid hands. he is QUICK. Jets would be stupid to let him walk, but they might consider him not part of the timeline.
Kenneth Walker
Rachaad White
Travis Etienne
Tyler Allgeier
Rico Dowdle
that's 6 RBs who were starters

It’s been proven to be historically bad value taking running backs in the top ten. But ok.
Raiders took the best last year and ended up picking first this year.
I want an impact defender 1st round. One of the receivers in the 2nd, even if we move up some. And offensive lineman in both the 3rd and 4th.

Drafting any running back in the top 10, or first round at all is retarded.
Amateur Coaches and GMs don't understand the value of a running back, regardless of quality but Love is average at best. He's not an elite talent.
He had under 1400 yard against incredibly poor competition on the year and even when a top 10 running back is a hall of famer it still doesn't matter. It never works if you use a top draft pick on a RB.
Saints should go
1) Value based Olineman or WR.
2) Value based defended - if arvell, Bain, Caleb downs, mansoor delane or Sonny styles slips then snag the one you love
Drafting a RB high is retarded
Last year raiders wasted a top 10 pick on Ashton Jenty but could have went with someone like Tyler Booker or Tet Mcmillian then got someone like Quinshon Judkins or Trevyeon Henderson in the 2nd or Kyle Monogai in the 6th.
For every single top 10 RB there's a better option over the past 20 years later in the exact same draft.
For every Leonard Fournette there's a james cook, for every every Ezekiel Elliot there's a Derrick Henry.
Even the best RBs don't work out when you reach
Giants with Saquon
Vikings with Adrian Peterson
Lions with Barry Sanders
How many playoff runs did these teams make?
RBs early are not worth it. The best RB first round of the past 20 years that they top couple made an immediate positive impact was 23 when Gibbs and Bijan both went in top 12. And even in that year both teams could have drafted Jalen Carter or JSN in that first round then got Devon Achane in the 3rd.
Protect Shough is priority 1. Weapons at WR is priority 2 but do what the eagles do abs Value Draft.
If Caleb Downs is there at 8 then you take him and don't reach on an average talent RB.

This is one of those situations where you may have to do both, if Love is the guy you want. If you don’t, you risk losing him someone to in the top 7. Plus, you sort of tip your hand for a team like KC sitting at 9 to jump over you and snag him.

I’m normally an anti-RB in 1st round person. But, I could stomach a Love pick because of the following:
1. There are about 8 1st round worthy; blue chip players in this draft according to experts. Since Mendoza (not one of the blue chip players) is guaranteed to get drafted in the top 8, we are guaranteed to get a blue chip. If it’s Love, so be it.
2. Draft wise, we lucked out w getting a QB at 40 (huge historical anamoly), that we can afford to make this pick a RB.
3. Trend is for teams to have a high hit rate recently with the premier RB’s in drafts ( Barkley, Gibbs, Robinson)
4. We have pretty good draft capital. If Mickey follows last year’s successful model and doesn’t burn picks to move up too aggressively, then we should pull another good draft.
5. Our coach has shown he knows how to scheme an explosive run game when he has the right back and o line pieces
So, I wouldn’t hate it but still hope we have other blue chip options.

History has a funny way of repeating itself.
Drew fell out of outer space and Reggie was drafted
Not saying but saying

A Strong Running Game will make Sheaux better.
If Saints get a Running Game with a Back that can Take over a game, it will make this Offense dangerous.

The more I think about it, Kellen Moore offense went to the moon when they got Saquon in PHI.
Call me crazy but we spend money on 2 guards, a certain WR in PHI and draft Love.
You have effectively recreated the SB winning roster from PHI

There are no WR or OL worthy of the 8th pick
Delane isn’t worth the 8th pick either
This is why Love is a viable selection at 8.

True. Just without the Defense.
