The NCAA tampering probe involving Ole Miss got a twist on Wednesday.
One that involves Fresno State.
NCAA investigators had contact with the Bulldogs’ athletic department this week, per sources. The contact stems from allegations that an Ole Miss football staff member made improper contact and tampered with Fresno State receiver Josiah Freeman, a sixth-year senior and the team’s leading receiver.
Matt Entz, the coach at Fresno State, declined to comment on Wednesday. Bulldogs’ athletic director, Garrett Klassy, isn’t talking, either.
I’m told by NCAA sources that Freeman provided screenshots of the communications to officials.
“Fresno State has receipts,” a source said.
Will Pete even coach a game?

It is so ironic that Ole Miss had their best season ever & their HC still left for LSU in November
It’s awesome really

Probably. Like Austin says, Pete Golding just does what he does.

You’ve got to appreciate his total commitment to being sleezy. I’ve know he was dirty since he dropped a bag on Jacob Phillips to steal him from OU.

So did Austin not catch any heat from Pete for that comment?

People keep framing the Ole Miss–Clemson situation as standard “tampering,” which is typically a Level II issue. That’s true in most cases—but this one may carry bigger risks for Ole Miss…especially now with the Fresno State allegations.
In the Clemson case, the reported messages from Pete Golding (“how much would it cost…”) go beyond simple contact and could fall under impermissible inducements, which are treated as Level I violations. It will be interesting to see what the texts said in the Fresno State case.
Now - this is the bigger issue. Clemson’s GM and AD reportedly alerted Ole Miss’ leadership before the Cal/Clemson LB player entered the portal, warning them that the OM coaching staff communication was improper. Despite that, the contact allegedly continued.
If those reports are accurate, the concern for Ole Miss isn’t just tampering—it’s whether the administration failed to act after being notified. That’s the type of scenario the NCAA has previously classified as lack of institutional control, a Level I category.
Nothing may ultimately come of it, but the potential exposure here appears to be larger than a routine tampering case.
OM had a large portal class. I suspect that the Clemson player and Fresno player weren’t the only ones whose transfers were handled this way. I suspect Dabo’s press conference may have opened the floodgates with respect to Ole Miss violations.

And they still have no championship trophies of any kind to show for it, unfortunate since the wins are going to disappear in the record books.

The d- bag ob locked on Ole Miss will go into his 4th level of disforia. He was giddy when Lane was the bad guy , but pete golding is a baller for sending million dollar contracts via text.
Dude also said next season Ole miss will be better and explode on offense.
