Until LSU starts to buy some 5 star players, the results on the court will not change. LSU hasn't had a 5 star MBB player since 2021 according to 247sports.com

I think you’ll find out in about a month that yes, of course they do, and this narrative will finally die.

When you're only buying players, you're only getting players that are just there for the money.

With a better coach you can get players that are there for more than just the money.

LSU hasn’t had a five star recruit since 2021 because we made a terrible coaching hire. LSU spent plenty of money on this roster money isn’t the reason we are awful

It's kind of a shitty sport. Possessions are pretty repetitive, refs make it unwatchable, and the bonus makes it incredibly anticlimactic.

Play prison rules and get rid of the charge and blocking fouls and it would probably be more entertaining

That's Kim Mulkeys House now. The men's program is officially dead and nobody wants to resurrect it.

Anyone who says they don't is just being obtuse, a troll or using it to defend Matt McMahon.

The problem around the program right now is we have a coach who is not only a horrible head coach, he does nothing to draw interest and excitement around the program. When's the last time you saw McMahon doing something to get the fans involved?

Basketball is the only other sport that makes a profit besides football. It would be foolish for any school to "not care" about basketball, especially in the profit sharing and NIL days.

LSU has a rich basketball history. All it needs is the right coach to get the fans excited again and you'll see the PMAC selling out again. Hell, just look at the interest and commitment to the women's basketball program right now.

Look no further than Florida for what is attainable for LSU basketball. Just need the right guy. If there wasn't a totally pointless and wasteful federal investigation into college basketball recruiting, we may be there right now.

6300 fans for the SEC home opener this season

2021 home opener against ULM

We had 6300 fans for the SEC home opener this season.

We had 10k fans for a home opener against ULM back in 2021 and over 2k students showed up as well. Have anywhere close to 2k students showed up to any game this season under McMahon? Any game I've watched at home has been whisper quiet outside of pumped in noise and the fog machine going off any time we make a basket.

As the fan base has eroded and faded off and ambivalence has set in firmly, it is much, much easier for the administration to be ambivalent as well, and they have been at least in a relative sense.

Which is obtuse and short sighted. We need a coach that will drag them and the fan base back in. It's going to have to start with the coach - not an outside PR campaign or billboards, add campaigns. And he'll need to win too and consistently of course. But those who say just winning is enough....I can debate you, it's going to take both.

Florida hasn't had a 5 star MBB player since 2019. They are the defending National Champions. Led by a HC they hired from San Francisco within a day LSU hired McMahon.

LSU has a bad HC PERIOD. END OF STORY. The amount of people turning over every stone imaginable to explain the poor results over the last 4 years other than the glaringly obvious reason is mind boggling. Land the right HC and the rest fixes itself.

This isn't some grand mystery that requires Hercule Poirot to solve. LSU missed on the hire in 2022. It happens...Move on and try to get someone better.

There is some truth to this statement; yet ticket sales for MBB brought in more revenues than ticket sales for WBB.

MBB is a sleeping giant that has the potential to bring in millions more to the athletic dept.

Great idea. We won't get any revenue distribution from basketball and then baseball (and whatever other sports "where it belongs") will have less.

In 2006 we made the final four and had a 5 year run before that with good teams that were exciting. Tyrus Thomas was one of the most exciting players I’ve ever watched. Yet midway into January we still didn’t have huge crowds for games. It wasn’t until the last few weeks of the season did they really start promoting them and people took notice. It’s a Baton Rouge issue. Fans love football. Most love baseball. Basketball is fun if we make a run. That’s the consensus. That’s what keeps top talent away.
