It might not be as conservative or liberal as some want, but it doesn’t matter. It is what it is under his leadership.

Fighting against his leadership goes nowhere but down a path that benefits democrats.

Nobody wants to help Dems, but how would a conservative try to move Trump right on a position?

For example, spending - how do conservatives motivate Trump to stop spending like a Democrat?

I mean, yeah, it’s a cult of personality.

It’s our country’s 250th anniversary but it’s a shame that Trump is the President for it. I’ll always respect the office but damn can we just get someone else in office like Rubio or JDV?

“Cult of personality” = beliefs and viewpoints that don’t align with my own, aka opinions and positions that I don’t agree with (or better put, ones that don’t agree with mine). The glaring problem, as I see it, is let’s just say intuitively speaking I’m a bit skeptical of what your own beliefs, viewpoints, opinions and positions are likely to be, given the nature of your comment there. Thus, I predict it would likely be very, very difficult to align.

cult of personality is when a leader, usually political, uses propaganda and media to create an idealized, heroic, almost superhuman image, demanding unquestioning loyalty and devotion, often in authoritarian states to consolidate power and suppress dissent by making the leader seem infallible. It involves exaggerated praise, flattery, and manipulation of public perception to elevate the leader above criticism, fostering a strong emotional bond and preventing challenges to their authority, as seen with figures like Stalin, Hitler, and Kim Jong-un.

That's essentially impossible

Donald Trump is not a Republican, regardless of his voter registration, and whether or not you believe that’s a good or bad thing. The President is a nationalist and a populist—again regardless of whether you think those things are good or bad.

I support most of his policies, and have voted for him every time he’s on the ballot.

But I have to admit it does kind of suck we won’t have a unified celebration for the semi-quintessential just because half the country will hate everything because he is POTUS. Trump will throw a hell of a party in July, that much is certain.

Patience. Trump is paving the way for guys like that.

The alternative president for 250 was Kamala. Gotta keep things in perspective.

I mean, you’re more than welcome to make that assumption of my intent, but trump is a political figure who brooks no dissent amongst his party and actively encourages his base of support to excise these people.

Republican ideas are simply whatever Trump says they are right now. People may like different conservative politicians or dislike them, but no one can question or criticize the leader about anything.

I have seen every Republican of the last 10 years called a RINO at some point or another usually because they disagreed or voted against him. All previous Republicans political leaders are also RINOs bush, Cheney, HW, Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney, hell Marco was as well until he recently he regained Trumps good graces.

Hell, this thread basically lays that out.

Cult for sure and not sustainable bc there is no 2.0 for this experiment. No other politician will be able to duplicate this behavior again. Thank the Lawd.

Hopefully, working for all will be the norm again.
If not, this republic is in trouble.

Would you argue that the progressives are interested in this?

No, but the most progressive wings of the Democratic Party have failed to gain power. I understand a lot of people wouldn’t believe that, but it’s true.

I look at it as:

1) Democrat Party (totally useless)

2) Republican Party (mostly useless)

3 Trump/MAGA (seriously underrepresented in Washington - where it really matters)

Yeah. I would totally disagree.
