Winnie's Mock Draft 2.0

Here's who's on the board as the Saints are on the clock. Choice between meat and potatoes (OL) and creme brulee (RB) as the best players available. David Bailey from TTU fits a position of need (EDGE) but his frame is almost certainly too small (6-3, 250 lbs) to fit our needs.
No brainer in my opinion - you pick the best OT prospect in two years in Spencer Fano, move Fuagua to RG, and have the most athletic and freakish right side of an offensive line in recent NFL history. The "Polynesian Punch" we'll affectionately call them.
In Round 2, Alabama defensive lineman L.T. Overton fits the "Big Human" mould of Cam Jordan that our Mickey loves. 6-5, 295 lb monster who can set the edge, collapse the pocket, and learn from our All Pro vets until Cam hangs 'em up.
In Round 3, DT Lee Hunter provides depth, upside, and fits the scheme well. There wasn't a WR that was close to BPA at this point in the draft.
In Round 4, we add some CB depth and good size in Tacario Davis from UW. Still no value at WR in this spot. Only Zachariah Branch was on the board and I'm not a fan of small receivers after (both) Brandin Cooks debacles.
Unless we target at WR at number 8, they come off the board fast in these mock drafts. Hopefully we can target someone like Alec Pierce or trade for a Pickens to help take the top off prior to the draft so that we feel good about taking BPA.

You would take Love in this situation?
I don't like our interior offensive line situation enough to spend the #8 overall pick on a running back when we're already set at that position (I'm more optimistic about AK41 taking another restructure and coming back healthy than most of you seem to be). Plus I really liked Neal and Estime.

plz for the love of God don't draft an OLine guy with the 1st.

Kendrick Faulk being picked at 2 would be the most baffling pick in recent memory.
If it plays out like that you pick Bailey in a heartbeat.

Yeah and the Giants taking Bain wouldn't make a ton of sense either. I think more likely Bain is on the board for us and Fano is gone, but I'm sure that will come up multiple times in future versions of my mock draft.
If Fano were gone and Bain were on the clock I'd take Bain for sure. I don't think there's a realistic scenario that I'd take Love at #8 with our current line situation.
David Bailey doesn't fit our defensive scheme - he's not big enough and doesn't have the frame to add muscle without losing his defining trait (speed).

Had to read that twice. For a second there I thought your plan was to draft an OT and move another OT to RG in round 1. Then draft a LT and move him to Edge.
Was thinking this madness of drafting guys experienced in 1 position and trying to plug them somewhere else is really getting out of control

Bailey or Delane over Fano

I'd be surprised if AZ took another WR that high. Or that 2 WR's go before #8.
Do we think there's any chance Simpson or Chambliss (if ruled ineligible again) can be a top 7 pick?

I think it would depend on the combine for both right now Simpson is mid to late first and Chambliss is 2nd day.

You somehow took a team needing offensive playmakers and we end up with none. This would be a disaster.

Faulk is a freak and is going to be a really good player in the nfl. Should he be picked at 2? I don’t think so. Should he be in play at 8? He absolutely should considering we have a massive need coming up at the 5 tech.

I might be done with the saints if we take another OL in the first round.
For the rest of the league we cannot allow J love to get to the chiefs, if he’s available we need to take him. Love AK but he’s getting older

Had the absolute perfect one yesterday.
1 Bailey
2 Chris Bell
3 Jennings Dunker who I have as a guard
4 Zane Durant DL
5 Tanner Koziol TE
Best case scenario draft for me. Woukd restock some positions of need.

I cannot remember a year where we had so many good players to choose from for our 1st round pick.

i feel different. I think they are good players but i'm not sure many of these are really top 5 worthy picks...

If it unfolds like your mock I’m prob grabbing Bailey or Woods at 8.

David Bailey would be the pick, Winnie.
Though he won’t be there anyway.
