No matter how much you despise game wardens, it's not enough. South Carolina man was arrested for glassing a decoy buck at night. Never turned a light on or touched his rifle. Game wardens thought they had a "career" case. Now they and the department are being sued.

I saw this on youtube, the big tell was the officers turning their body cams on and off with gaps .

And the one who said "are you hot" indicating his was off, but recorded their conversation.

The part about them discussing the guy had just bought his truck and they thought "what a catch" they had confiscating it.

I don’t despise those who have to deal with a hunting public with the ethics of three year olds.

Apparently they did.

And hopefully it'll follow them around forever.

I hope the 2 game wardens are fired and end up living in cardboard boxes

I have friends who are LEOs and I don’t envy the shite they have to deal with, but I hope they charge these two cocksuckers with a crime and don’t just make it a civil case.

Their attitude the entire time was they get to make up the law as they go along.

When police or green jeans are giddy with excitement when arresting and confiscating property from citizens, we need to start examining the perverse incentives that cause this excitement.

Why should your career be advanced for getting lucky on who you arrest? You bait some poor soul into making a mistake (or in this case, nothing illegal at all), and get promoted due to dumb luck because the guy happens to have thermals and a new truck?

Luck should have nothing to do with promotions, it should be earned by a good work ethic, high moral standards, and a record of treating citizens with the kindness and respect they deserve (if they deserve it).

Never forget when they arrested a guy wade-fishing during covid.

Can’t use binoculars after legal shooting light. You might reflect the light off the moon, causing the deer to be blinded and get hit by your truck.

Was in Nebraska last week. Young game warden was watching us. Thankfully we called the hunt exactly at last shooting light. He came to the set and asked for licenses. OK, but it was 8 degrees, Friday afternoon, and the wind was blowing 40 mph. Cool, check our licenses--no big deal. Then he proceeds to want to check each of guns for plugs. We all just laid out our guns and let him do it while we got out of the wind. We were well under limit for birds.

freaking eager beaver MF. I get he has a job to do, but damn it's -17 wind chill.

He was gonna shoot that deer until he glassed it long enough to determine it was a trap, then sped off.

I was going to have a roadie on the way to the camp last Friday, but didn’t. Should I be guilty because I thought about drinking and driving?

If I'm in a deer stand out of season with a rifle, but I don't shoot anything, was I actually poaching?

Sadly, very few of my GW interactions have been smooth in regards to hunting.

More times than not they are trying to get you to incriminate yourself. I tell my boys to stay quiet and not talk if and when the warden begins accusing them of something they haven't done.

That said, I don't despise them.

Well, if you are carrying concealed, are you a mass shooter?

Not sure where you hunt but it’s always hog season in my neck of the woods.

I can hunt hogs day or night 365 days a year. I’ll sit in the stand during deer season and stay after sundown to shoot hogs. Should o get a ticket just because I have the ability to do something illegal but don’t?
