With all the stories in college sports over the years of secret money deals and $100 handshakes, do we really think that is no longer happening? NIL has allowed for above board means of paying players, but there’s no way that sit isn’t still taking place

Whats the purpose of doing this whenever you can do it legally?

"Can you sign this 500k NIL deal? But just incase shake my hand and see if you like this $100 bill I have tucked away."

I don’t know enough about it so I guess that’s where I question. I would assume there are enough limitations that prevent some from paying whatever they want. I don’t think there’s no under the table deals

Who was Dale’s assistant who had a large bag stolen while on a recruiting trip? Ralph Abernathy?

My bet is that if the clearinghouse starts rejecting deals the under the table stuff will start happening if it isn’t already happening.

Yeah the only reason to do this is to sidestep the clearinghouse.

There is always some level of backdoor off the record dealing, but I assume most if it is legit now

There are almost no rules to the recruiting game now so no rules equals no reason to be sneaky and break them.

When rules start to show up, then you'll see people looking for ways to break them.

I remember when Tennessee got in trouble for giving out cash in McDonald’s bags. Fun times.

You’re not supposed to pay a player to visit. It’s 100% happening. Rumor on Seaton he wanted 100K to step on campus. I know for a fact Dakorian Moore was getting paid in high school to visit, getting free shite like PS4’s etc.

Back in the day a young friend of mine and I played softball and flag football together. He had a FB scholarship to a Mississippi Juco but gave it up when he got his GF pregnant. He was friends with a D1 LBer commit and his brother and a D1 basketball commit. He missed our softball practice and later he called me to tell me what he was doing. He said the LBer’s brother and he got a phone call to go for a ride in the basketball commits new Trans Am so off they went. Then he was shown a brown bag with $5,000 in it.
This was about 1981 and the BB commit was eventually drafted by the Kansas City Kings. CSB
