Been a James Bond fan most of my life and had watched most of the movies. All except Dr. No and From Russia With Love until last year. I still haven’t seen and refuse to watch No Time To Die.

From Russia With Love shocked me at how good it was and is in my top 3 Bond films. Number 1 will always be Live And Let Die. Along with that, Roger Moore is the best Bond IMO.

I also love that Sgt JW Pepper was originally put in the movie by the director of Live And Let Die to poke fun at/insult the local PD they encountered in Louisiana due to the racism they claimed they saw against some of their crew and actors.
However, it backfired in a major way and he was more of a lovable idiot that Bond fans loved so much they brought him back for The Man With The Golden Gun.

The actor Clifton James was actually in a lot of other things and was an interesting person.

Imagine if this board was around when they gender swapped M

Judi Dench did great in that role though.

Maybe it's the nostalgia of playing the game, but GoldenEye has always been my favorite

Nobody cared, M was an empty suit until Judy Dench took on the role. She changed the character, in Goldeneye she was girlbossy, Bond is a misogynist, I send men to die” which was shitty but she was mostly still a background character. Once TND and TWINE came around she had changed into an actual boss and leader who was out front and excellent in the role. She remained great until her exit and she was the closest thing Bond ever had to a co-Star in the series.

I am glad they moved them all there. Like you, I have been a fan my entire life. My mother was a big fans in the 70s and 80s so I always watched them with her.

It is by far my favorite movie series. I have seen them all multiple multiple times and love them all.

Since I grew up in the 70s and 80s, Moore was a big favorite of mine but honestly all of the guys did a great job with the role. I think Craig changed it the most but that was on the writers , not him. He has done a great job being 007

I've never watched a Bond movie, nor has my wife. My wife wanted to know if we needed to start with the first one. I assume the character doesn't build so there's no particular order to watch them in.

What would you recommend we start with?

Yeah, I just noticed this last night. I need to catch some of the SC ones.

I haven't watched No Time to Die yet either. To those who did, is it a good movie?

People are going to hate me for saying this and downvote the frick out of me...

But I would start with the Daniel Craig films. Casino Royale is his first.

More modern films to get into and both CR and Skyfall are really good movies. The rest aren't, but I think its a good way to start.

And then go back and watch the Connery films and work your way from there.

Again, this will be an incredibly controversial take

Yeah, downplaying James Bond in favor of a Mary Sue really helped the series. And as to the question of how to watch the Bond films, watch them in order and stop after Casino Royal.

I didn’t see her as used to downplay Bond. She really added to the series, expanding the role of Bonds support staff, making it more grounded. I’ve watched em all so many times it’s stupid and even though NTTD and the second 2/3rds of Spectre were dogshit I really liked Skyfall and I have no idea why QOS is so hated. There’s nothing wrong with that movie, it’s just not on the same level as the great ones.

Start with From Russia with Love (which is actually the second in the series after Dr. No). Many consider From Russia with Love to be the best Bond movie. I would start with that and then Goldfinger next (which directly followed From Russia with Love). You can always go back to Dr. No, and you don’t need to see Dr. No to understand what’s going on in From Russia with Love.
